58 /100 SCALBY MILLS ROAD
“Set next door to the Sea Life Centre, and at the end of a miniature railway line, I felt this place could do with some competition, and had got a bit complacent. Food was over-priced, small portions of bog-standard stuff. The Wold Top exclusive beer I went there for was similarly nothing special. The rest of the range was one local beer and three UK standards (Speckled Hen, Landlord, something else uninspiring). Service was cursory. Beer prices about £1 over anywhere else in town.“

66 /100 SCALBY MILLS ROAD
“Old Scalby Mills is an old, freshly whitewashed pub nestled at the end of North Bay where the road winds down to the beach and a creek meanders down to the sea. It’s probably a bit touristy in the holiday season but we were there on a Friday afternoon in February and it was fairly quiet. There’s a small bar right by the door, a conservatory to the side and a largish main room projecting out at the front. There are neatly pointed rough stone walls and lots of pump clips on display round the bar and on the beams, chimney breast and other flat surfaces. There’s a great view along the bay to the castle on the headland and the rows of pastel coloured cliff top hotels in the distance. They have five casks - including Wold Top North Bay, which I understand is only available here - and about six kegs. (Visited 24 February 2012).“

“Old pub in a beautiful part of Scarborough, looking at the cliffs and the castle towards the main town. The pub has a few real ales and some local ones. Also 2 beers on tap specially made from the pub. Brewery unknown however. Nice pub to sit look out the window at the sea and have a beer. Lovely. Chips were nice to!“
