72 /100 Northumbrian Gifts (Beer Store) WAREHOUSE 4, ASHWOOD BUSINESS PARK, ASHINGTON Review for online order. A wide range of trad 500ml bottles along with a few craft cans from Durham / Tyne & Wear / Northumberland breweries. Decent service, quick shipping and rock solid packaging. |
72 /100 Northumbrian Gifts (Beer Store) WAREHOUSE 4, ASHWOOD BUSINESS PARK, ASHINGTON I've ordered around 3 times from them now. They do a good range of mainly traditional style bottle beers from Tyne & Wear, Durham and Northumberland. There are some craft cans but not a huge number. Prices can get as low £2.50 per bottle which in the current climate is very good.
Every time I've ordered I've managed to find a new brewery I've not ticked before so I think they have a reasonable churn of new stuff for what they are.
Beer quality itself is mixed but I don't check the rating on this site first. There are always some unexpected crackers.
Delivery is good (usually 2 to 4 days). Packaging is mixed - they use those air pocket thingies which is great so broken bottles are very unlikely but the boxes are thin. One box came in damaged and the driver asked me if everything was still there but I had forgotten how many bottles I ordered so just sent him on his way. Luckly nothing was missing. |
68 /100 Northumbrian Gifts (Beer Store) WAREHOUSE 4, ASHWOOD BUSINESS PARK, ASHINGTON Banged in an order before second lockdown to up my Northumbrian ratings, very prompt, very efficient, all correct. The range they offer is more North East than Northumberland but managed to find sufficient to make the order worthwhile. Good service. |
90 /100 Northumbrian Gifts (Beer Store) WAREHOUSE 4, ASHWOOD BUSINESS PARK, ASHINGTON Used this company for the first time during lock down in May 2020. I e -mailed to ask if they were still shipping.Within minutes they rang to confirm that they where. I ordered on late Friday afternoon and received my consignment early Tuesday morning. The bottles and cans were very securely packed.
Their selection is not massive but consists of breweries from the North East of England many of whom I have never seen available elsewhere. Prices are very competitive and if you are looking for some hard to find mainstream beers rather than overpriced craft ones then this is the place to check out.
Cant really say what the ambiance is like as i have never visited but base this score on their service and attitude. |
64 /100 Rohan Kanhai (JDW) (Bar) 1-4 WOODHORN ROAD This is a small Wetherspoon pub, and busy because of it. The one room ground floor is tight for room given the tables are quite densely packed in, and it’s quite bright too given your never far away from a window in here. There is a small front patio area that looks out onto the bus stops in the towns small commercial area. Ales are on two rows of pumps and include local crafts. |
