66 /100 Brickyard (Bar) 1A STANDHILL ROAD Decent pub with a local feel on the Standhill Road going out of Carlton. Quite well-attended for a Thursday mid-afternoon. Everyone seems to know each other but it's not cliquey. Beers list is mostly Lincoln Green, so you may catch some seasonals or a beer from their more modern-looking Blackshale range. Keg consists of two Beavertown and Wild Beer Millionaire. So not a bad place but probably falls short of the better Lincoln Green pubs. |
60 /100 Free Man (JDW) (Bar) 334-336 CARLTON HILL, CARLTON Small suburban Wetherspoon as part of a commercial row of shops on both sides of the main road in this eastern part of the city. It mainly serves a local crowd who on the basis of my visit use this pub with a frequency as it was packed with diners in the early evening. The bar is against the right wall after you walk in with a a small number of tables at the front of the open plan room, and more towards the rear. Has a decent soft furnished style with a plushness, Rotates guest ales. |
