62 /100 THE GREEN, CROWELL
“Certainly an idyllic village pub, with an interesting real ale selection. Full of locals hogging the bar on my visit, so difficult to see what was on offer. Not worth a detour but OK if you’re in the area.“

“Crowell is a small village on the B4009 between Kingston Blount and Chinnor and close to the M40. The pub is buil up a slope just off the road with a small car park and some wooden chairs outside. Spot the gravestone by the car park; it’s in memory of Princess Diana. Inside the pub is rather dark and a little tatty, but full of character. Well kept real ale served through the five hand pumps and a good variety of beers. On my most recent visit there were beers from Sharps, Stonehenge, Westerham, Otter and Youngs. Listed in various pub guides including (almost) every? edition of the GBG, and if those books are to be believed the landlord here used to be a fisherman and uses his contacts and knowledge to keep the pub supplied with the fresh fish that forms much of the menu.“

“A two roomed pub just off the M40. Bags of character with an outstanding choice of beers normally. Very tight when full, I prefered the snug on the left. Top notch country boozer.“
