“Smart Edwardian country pub that adopts the familiar Brunning & Price aesthetic, with lots of rooms and seating areas scattered about an historic old building. Has a nice charm here, with real wood fireplaces and plenty of framed old paintings and documents lining the walls. Generally has a good mix of folk in here, not too affluent like others in the B&P chain. We tend to only call in for a couple of halves and some chips, but it is generally more of a foodie place. Expect some regional cask (Tatton, Salopian, Weetwood...), 1 local keg IPA (Mobberly, Salopian etc..) and usually a keg cider. Very dog friendly. Nice atmosphere.“

“Visited a few times: usually with a minibus full of CAMRA members doing a survey trip or social outing. Pleasant enough place with Marston’s/Banks’s and their derivatives available on cask (usually four different). Usual keg offering. Tosh the landlord is from Hawaii, I did ask how he ended up in Shropshire once, but have forgotten his answer: he’s a really nice guy. I would never have added this pub to the database: nice though it is the beer selection is pedestrian to say the least.“

“Nice old country pub on the edge of Newport, not far from the outskirts of Telford really. A multi roomed affair with a beer garden. Popular with the locals on an overcast Sunday afternoon in June. The beer range is from the Marstons stable so nothing too exciting but the beer I did have was well looked after. If you happen to be in deepest, darkest Shropshire then you could do worse than try this place. Won’t set the world alight beer wise but nice to stop off for a beer.“

“Regular haunt of mine: foodie and very popular with all walks of life: all female groups, farmers, youngsters and even normal people come here from wide and far, not just locals. Well maintained and smart: Brunning and Price know what they are doing and put staff in who carry on the good work. Always a good menu and a selection of local and not so local Real Ales: CAMRA GBG regular and rightly so. Beer quality never an issue.“

“Typical Brunning and Price pub that is quite palatial and concentrates on fine food. They always have a good selection of real ales in their pubs. 6 on tonight.“
