60 /100 Horse and Jockey (Bar) GRINDLEY BROOK Located just yards from the border with Cheshire, on a busy corner junction on the A41 this popular 18th century pub seems to have been given a proper make-over in recent years both inside and out to bring it up to the modern day. It's clearly food-led, and there seemed to be no end of new couples and groups arriving and taking food menus at the door. Decor and general feel very much seems inspired by the Brunning & Price chain, exposed timber and plush cushions throughout. However there are 8 cask lines and enough hidden seating areas to have a beer in peace. Some small Cheshire and Shropshire breweries to sample, though condition wasn't the best on this visit. Staff bizarrely seemed to consist solely of about ten 18 year olds clad in Brooklyn Brewery T-shirts. |
