Awesome two room pub a five minute walk from the town centre. Cask beers in one room, keg beers in the other. There must be a choice of 25 to 30 beers at any one time - varied styles and from all over the world. It’s a veritable beer festival on every visit! Great service from knowledgeable, friendly staff. Quite an extensive bottle list also, including some lesser found beers. An absolute gem that deserves its rating and praise
Pretty large place with smaller front room and the large space in the back consisting of a small and a large room and the bar area between them. Nice small garden in the back. Lots of weird decorations, I could probably spend an hour studying the details on all the creations on the walls. Extensive selection of both kegs and casks, more than 30 in total. Good combination of UK beers and imports. Very good and fair priced bottle list. A must if you're in area. Grove and Magic Rock made Huddersfield well worth stopping at on our way from Manchester to Leeds.
This is where I drink before every Huddersfield Town home game, wonderful selection of both cask and keg beers, extremely keenly priced, the staff really know there stuff and the people that go in are all extremely friendly, miss at your own peril.
Holy cow. Ten minute walk from the station. Does not look like a pub from the outside - neither the building nor the bright green sign - so I walked pat it and had to ask for directions. Once I found it, I was in heaven. The room on your right is more for men, and you can cuss here. The room on the left was for families. But both sides were mixed. The right side, paradoxically, was quieter. Huge range of beer mostly from farther afield - Sweden, Denmark and Slovenia were all represented. And they do thirds. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Knowledgeable clientele too - thank you, David, for guiding me through the beers on offer with some solid recommendations. A must-visit while anywhere near Huddersfield.
Visited on a Friday night in July 2015. The pub is a gem with a great list of keg and cask beers from the UK and further afield, all are well kept and in decent condition. Tried several from the range and the prices for the cask beer were really good including a pint of 11%+ beer for £3.50! Keg is more expensive. Place is popular but got a table and just enjoyed the beer in the nice surroundings. A must visit when anywhere near Huddersfield.
A superb pub that has never let me down. Atmosphere always welcoming and friendly, admittedly the interior is quite basic and spartan, still very comfortable though. First class selection of beers, drank a fair few from breweries like Thornbridge, Buxton and Fullers to name but three of them. Beer quality excellent and pricing is still very acceptable, never had a bad pint here. If you only go to one pub in Huddersfield, make it the Grove.
Fantastic pub! Arrived at opening and enjoyed a couple of hours supping a few pints. The beer selection is very solid with reliable permanent casks and many guest ales as well. An extensive bottle list is also available. The interior is quite basic but inviting nonetheless. Some interesting bar snacks with the likes of jerky, insects and chocolate. Friendly barman. Easily walkable from the town centre. A classic.
