Excellent bottle shop. Definitely worth a look. Super-helpful owner, he has a few things I’ve never seen anywhere else. Got a bottle of Rare Barrel at cost.

Located on the corner of a Webster which is next to impossible to get to unless you have a car or you’re very fit. Basically a deceptive liquor store with a great craft beer selection - Belgians and American craft usually with a few gems in stock. Prices are reasonable and the same as most places. No food but also a small selection of wines and liquor.

"Short" little walk up Filbert from Pizza Orgasmica. Fortunately I decided to do it on a day where it was 92° in the city. Oh well, it was actually kind of fun! This is indeed a small corner shop with an impressive selection. Not all of the space is devoted to beer - there is some liquor as well, but the space for beer, while cramped, is certainly dense and high impact I saw a bunch of stuff that I have not seen elsewhere, and even picked up a want list beer. No whales or anything, but a lot of interesting variety. The owners seem to have a thing for Brew Rebellion, cause they have a LOT of their stuff. Prices are indeed high, but this place is well worth the visit just to see what they have.

This beer store needs larger premises in my opinion. About 800 bottles in a small corner shop? Good selection from Belgium, Germany, England Denmark and of course from the USA. Craft beer only, which is nice. But again: American craft beer = bombers! 12oz bottles are often barrel aged editions at $12 or more. I thought Norway was the one and only expensive country considering price of beer. Anyhow, I purchased American craft beers you will never find in Europe. Service was a bit introvert but I Iike to find my bottles by myself anyway. (Visited June 28th 2016)

I’d say it’s the best selection in SF, probably the whole Bay Area. As mentioned in other reviews, prices are a little higher than other places, but then again, a lot of the things you won’t find there. It is out of the way, but definitely worth the trip. Also, they don’t keep everything on their website or even on the shelves, so if you’re looking for something special you should ask.

Holy crap. Talk about a hidden gem. This is away from any other beer stops in the city. Its also away from just about anything else you might want to see in the city. That said, you should really make an effort to get here at least once. Upon walking up to it I was immediately reminded of Healthy Spirits as they are small, located in a residential neighborhood, and sport a Chimay sign right out front. Inside the layout is a bit different but they also carry the high end snacks right next to the register to go with the expensive beer. There is an island in the middle of the store with beer on one side and liquor on the other. The rest of the room (the walls) is all beer. One wall is full of shelves and the others are full of fridges. It’s impressive. And I didn’t see a Budweiser anywhere in the place. Naturally some of the big name California brewers where there like Stone, Bear Republic, Lagunitas, Ballast Point, etc. Oddly enough Russian River was absent though there was a signed growler on top of the shelves that said “do not touch”. Maybe they’re saving that last ever sold Pliny the Younger growler for some special tasting. Who knows. They also have a large collection of Mikkeller and Struise as well as a pile of other imports both Belgian and otherwise. In front of the window is a collection of glassware that was pretty nice. Might have to grab a 2L Weihenstephaner boot for the next time I head to a German restaurant with Vitus. They also have the $16 Anchorage Brewing glass. Prices were a touch high but the selection and the service were very good. The clerk handed me a business card and told me that the entire beer selection is on their website. I’ll have to check on that to verify but that would be great if they kept it up to date. I will definitely make an effort to get back here some time soon, though it is out of the way.

The guy working there is great. He’s super into beer and serious about it, but also enthusiastic. The ambiance would be rated a 5, but it’s the neighborhood -- it’s a corner-type store (which is completely surprising to me because it deserves so much more than being a "corner" store) so anyway, there might be a random guy interrupting for change or whatever. I’ve been to City Beer, Healthy Spirits, and now here: For beer bottle purchases, this is the best to me. This, then City Beer (because they also serve beer), and then Healthy Spirits. Healthy Spirits is more than beer though. Need to get to Ales Unlimited without a vehicle? Check out MUNI for bus routes, etc.: http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mmaps/official.htm

Excellent selection but easy to miss. Looks like any old convenience store from the outside. But inside is a whole lot of awesome beer.
