Please note that this place is now located at 740 Moowaa Street. Stopped in for the first ever homebrew competition in Hawaii. Organizer Jay met me at the door and gave me the grand tour of the brewing demos that had set up, from basic homebrew to a completely automated Pico system. I recognized several of the six BJCP certified judges as brewers from some of the places I had visited over the last several days. Met plenty of homebrewers, including Matt, a submariner. They had free food supplied by Square Barrels and others, and of course plenty of beer, both homebrew and regular beers from Beer Lab HI. They had 78 entries this year, including enough ciders and meads to make separate categories - not bad for their first year. As the only homebrew shop in Hawaii you must shop here if you homebrew, but this would be an awesome local store anyplace in the US.

This place is great! It is the only place on Oahu to get Homebrew supplies. I would totally recommend checking this place out.

Considering that this is the only homebrew store on Oahu they could really gouge us with high prices, and crappy service, but they are great! Really nice people, with a good selection, and good prices. Very helpful and friendly. The prices are artificially high just because we are in Hawaii, but they are reasonable considering. They save on costs by operating out of a warehouse in an industrial area, so don’t expect red carpets, but the store is clean, and well stocked. I wish they were open Sundays, but other than that I have no complaints.

While I have exactly one homebrew shop experience under my belt, I know good customer service when I find it. Mike is a great guy, will help you out any way he can and is extremely knowledgeable. His prices are more than fair and he is willing to work with you. Granted, most of you will not have an opportunity to come out to Hawaii to buy some homebrew supplies, for those of you who can, I higly recommend him. Not having what I felt was adequate experience to accurately rate anything, I gave extremely conservative ratings. Once I leave the islands I will likely continue to e-mail or call Mike for advice and homebrew tips. I will gauge all other homebrew stores from Homebrew in Paradise.
