Noisy student hangout early, gets more serious later. 10 taps ar mostly Italian craft. Owner is friendly. Great bottle selection, including Orval for €3.50 which I could not pass up. Good place. Best to avoid the crowd of students who just drink spritzers and eat the free food. Go after 8.

Small brightly lit bar between the city center and the university. Decent line-up of about a dozen taps and a couple of fridges with bottles. When I was there, the beers were a mix of some interesting Italian beers and middle of the road Belgians and Germans. Best beer bar close to the city center.

Visited in May 2016. Quite unpretentious pub, looks a bit like a cafe. Most of the clientele stood outside when we were there (it was rather warm). Service was freindly. Beers were good (best was Wot! black IPA from BSA). Bottle selection looked good but we only had stuff from the tap. Prices were some of the best that we saw in the area. We liked the place, so were there a couple of times during our visit to the city. Would go again.

Now changed its name to Birroteca Lupulus. No food, except crisps, popcorn & peanuts (free on the bar!). 10 beers on tap of which at least 4 Italian ’birre artasinale’ - they had the stunning White Dog IPA on when I was there. 3 fridges full of bottles - about 8 Italian, the rest from all over the place. The guys working the bar don’t speak much English, but point & all works fine. They may try to serve you in plastic receptacles, so shout loudly that you want a real glass. I was the oldest person in there, even older than the guy who seemed to own the place, and probably more than twice the age of most of the people drinking there (it’s on the edge of the university district). But don’t let that put you off - great bar.

Piccolo pub rettangolare con una bella lavagnona per le birre. 12 spine e 2 pompe, quasi tutte di buon livello, con un paio di chicche Selezione che alla lunga risente di un po di ripetitività.

Once upon a time, getting a beer in Italy that wasn’t crap commercial lager meant getting a crap commercial "doppio malto" that added some caramel and maybe 1% ABV to their standard product. The alternative splurge, was finding a bar that served some pedestrian Belgian blonde, like Grimbergen. Green River, though, is the hugest slam dunk triumph of craft brewing brilliance - - it is hard to imagine such a bold, amazing tap line up in this country. I stopped by other places in town and the more adventurous beer bars tend to have the typical "we are expanding our palate" approach - - they got a hefe, they got an amber, a pale ale, they may even have a stout (shrieks from the audience). But Green River has a bitchin’ line up representing a full range of styles, from a low-abv "salty ale" (a Gose?), to a fab imperial IPA, and three with ABV over 10%. This is not a cautious, milquetoast approach to "an introduction" to craft beers - - it is a slam down seizing it by the jugular. And most of this big-time line-up of taps are Italian! It is not soaking in atmosphere, this place, it is soaking in first-class suds. Totally, totally, the bomb for beer in Bologna.

very good place in bologna, not at the level of others in the region(like the arrogant pub in reggio emilia, mostly for the food choice), but the taps selection is extremly good, and the food(while limited) it’s extremely good. the service it’s a bit slow, but for the rest this place is gold with a lot of italian beers and a good selction of european and US brews from time to time

The best beer place in Bologna among 3 other I’ve visited. Very good selection of styles including IPA’s IIPA’s, RIS’es. 14 taps, good prices, helpful service. Definitely recommended!

By far my best bar experience in Bologna. 14 taps of constantly rotating beers all interesting in their own ways. In terms of beers and for Bologna, there was everything I wanted. You can’t really expect more in terms of beer quality. Staff is very friendly and had a great time discussing with them every single visit on various topics other than beer. Food wise is the usual panini all using some beer style theme. Good stuff but you are still eating a sandwich. As for the price, beers ranged from 3 to 3€50 for the small pint to 5€ for the pint which is around the median for that type of products. Place was never too crowded despite the huge Bologna University crowd up the street. Possible to sit outside which was nice in November but just a bit unsettling with the close proximity to the road traffic. In terms of atmosphere, it was rather quiet each time I went there and things were kept a bit low key. Interior had just been repainted which added a nice touch.
