Located on the other side of the Dnipro, easiest way to get here is Uber, great industrial location and feel, superb selection of Varvar beers, all in great condition, food is excellent ( especially the sausage platter) Friendly staff and helpful with beer choices and knowledge. My favourite place during my stay in Kyiv.
Очень атмосферное и необычное место. Приятный персонал.
Сразу пиво практически поразило, но у конкурентов сейчас есть пиво вкуснее и стоит оно дешевле. Очень скудное меню, мало закусок к пиву.
Definitely an interesting place and an adventure. I came out of the metro Livobereznha, turned right, bought a ticket from the kiosk and got bus 70 to Desnyanska vodonapirna stantsia. You will definitely need to study google maps and the local bus website to be sure and have your GPS switched on to get off in the right place.
Once there you will see a nice, modern brewery with a great garden and a big choice of beers and friendly staff. Personally I was slightly disappointed with the beers, but compared to other places, still worth going. Didn’t eat, but food looked ok, average prices, expensive for Ukraine.
You can combine this place with the new Irish pub/brewery near the metro Livobereznha.
The below statement that you can only get here by taxi isn’t true. It is true that there is no nearby Metro station but public transport is very far from limited to Metro. Figuring out public transport outside of the Metro can be challenging for a tourist I can imagine – I relieved exclusive on advice from locals. Visited twice, 5 – 10 min. walk from a busy road, first walk was interesting. I had to ask directions twice (I doubt many speak English here), walked through not one of the classiest neighborhoods in Kiev. Behind big apartment building, passing a piece of paper that had in fluo marker “Pole Dancing” written on it, pointing inside the courtyard of a regular apartment building looked questionable & I didn’t investigate. Walked on small sand road behind some buildings, there is a more logical road but this was a short one. I was told to run across a quite big street with no crossing & enter a garage. I did so finding two guys in plastic chairs drinking bottles of beer & an actual garage. Guy told me to walk around, leading into an alley that had a rusty trailer with an angry remark spray-painted on it akin to get your shit out of here & mentioning a specific name, quite funny. End of the alley there was a questionable kiosk, lots of drinking going on. Street name spray painted on bare walls. This place is massively different from its surrounding chokingly so. Beautiful wooden patio, looks like this used to be an actual woodworking place (que name of this place). Very hipster actual, beautiful & huge terrace. Very nice. Very American like. They offered about 7 fixed beers draft & about 5 – 6 changing taps, found upon second visit only a few days later already one beer changed, nice. All brewpubs except this one in Kiev that I visited served awful garbage bees. Beers here were actually okay, nothing great, not very to style, most without flaws & only minor flaws. This is good stuff for Kiev & Ukraine. Very nice interesting. They server USA style BBQ style, no real vegetarian / vegan options. Tried the fries which were decent, chili sauce was ketchup spices. Service was decent. On the weekend I was very lively, first great music think Radiohead followed by a pretty bland dance DJ that really got into drinking (it was funny to see). Prices are good. Great place to side outside, beers are great for Kiev & seeing how bad the other brewpubs are this is phenomenal. They have some bottles even if they are not listed. Not sure what the connection is between Varvar & Lisopylka and I forgot to ask. They have only their own beers, some whiskey which looked okay & were a bit expensive. Visited on a work day, no music which is a shame & this is an actual operation site, so a bit of construction notice & think I actually saw someone carrying wood :) if you are in Kiev this in absolutely essential visit.
Nice try to replicate american-style brewpub. Good ambiance and service but unfortunately beer not the best. And the worst thing that Lisopilka located in the middle of nowhere. You can get there only by taxi.
In the restaurant you can go once and never return.
The best place to go for locally brewed craft as for now.
They do totally different styles (think of Mild, American Wheat etc which are almost total strangers to Ukrainian drinkers, I’m not talking about beer-geeks) and usually get them right.
The place itself is rather small, thought there is pretty big summer terrace, but it’s unavailable in cold season. It can be crowded in prime-time - so don’t forget to make reservation - and the staff tries to do its best but sometimes you do wish they bring drinks and food faster. The place is terrible in means of getting there by public transport, but there are few options, including taxi and bikes, as they have bicycle parking.
But that’s the only flaws. The ambiance, beers and food are terrific. Almost all the time there are at least 6 of home-beers on tap, sometimes there are as much as 11, and rarely they have some guest-beers. Some beers are available in bottles.
Lisopylka is a must in Kyiv
