Small, archetypal bohemiam pub with vaulted ceilings and 3 great Kout’ beers on tap! Worth a visit, by no means…

Visited 2.10.12. Tiny place, hidden and not very toured. Only 3 beers on tap when we visited but both were exceptional. Czech radio was on, smoking inside allowed, no English but that's ok. Worth the stop between Prague/ Plzn and Bavaria. No food and the weirdest female bathroom, with en-suit shower and a door that doesn't really close - not too fun when you're the only woman around. We grabbed something to munch at the supermarket where we parked, and the stroll in the old town was nice.

This place serves Kout beer - what else to say? It’s a small place, but not cosy. They have new furniture, needs some aging. People drinking Kout and talking loud, some smoking. Also singing later in the night. Selection is perfect: Kout only, 10, 12, 14. Why expect more, it’s the best beer in the world. The brewery is 8 km away, so you cannot get it fresher. No food.

Visited 20 Nov 2007. Very small and spartan place and was quite smoky when I visited. About six medium-sized communal tables, and I think there was at least one person smoking at each one. Not much ventilation, so you kinda have to adjust for awhile before you can start to appreciate the beer aroma. And what fine beer it is! This was my first beer stop in CR, and it was to be some of the best beer of my 9-day trip. Hardly anyone speaks English in this town (that I could find), but I knew just enough German words and phrases (plus svetly and tmavy) to get by. They serve the regular Svetly 10 and 12 as well as the Tmavy. You’ll have to go to Koutland for the 18, but this was a convenient town to spend the night in between Munich and Prague, a neat view of a small, tidy Bohemian town.

This is one of the first pubs in the Czech Republic to serve beers from the recently (in 2006) re-opened brewery in Kout na Sumave. Domazlice is only a few kilometres from Kout. There are 3 different beers on tap, 10°, 12° and 14° dark. Staff are very friendly and competent. If you are in the Bavarian Forest or in Western Bohemia, this and Modry Abbe in Klatovy are places you should visit.
