COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2018 Enjoyed bottle in Brussels. Thin white head dissipates quickly. Aroma had tinges of high alc. and some white wine aromas. Flavour, smooth, fruity, refreshing, Chardonnay. Quite enjoyable.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2018 Strong ale in piena scuola trappista belga.

Copenhagen 31/8 2018. 33 cl bottle from Ølhandleren in Hørning. The usual generic look in brown and light beige. Assurance of a “Authentic Trappist Product”. Pours slightly golden yellow with big white bubbly head. Settles as 1,5 cm thick blanket of dense foam. Moderate Lacing. Aroma is fruity and metallic. Citrus, banana, white sugar. Metallic alcohol. Noteable but not unpleasant. Fairly strong carbonation. Slightly thick, prickly, lively texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by slightly weaker bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish and lingers for a while. A little boozy nose but I do not detect the fairly High ABV in the Flavor. Solid Belgian tripel.

Nice blond but hmm...lacking something i can't put my finger on. Notes of : Ginger, Lemon, Lemongrass, Coriander, Banana. Fairly floral but the back end doesn't throw out that lemongrass taste like a Duvel but instead has more a dry finish.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2018 Golden pour, small white head. Aroma of very light banana, flavor follows, banana, cloves, some wheat, maybe coriander ... Like a boozy tripel crossed with a weak Belgian white.

Tight white head stayed on an unclear rich golden body. Yeast, confectionery, pepper & citrus aroma. Medium bodied, tingly over the tongue with a soft back & sharp clean aft. Incredibly fruity tastes of peach, citrus, hops, spice & perfume followed by a lovely tangy finish
