Erzengel (14279) - Saarland & Düsseldorf, GERMANY - NOV 24, 2017
2009er bottle from my cellar. Nice deep nose. Malty caramel, round and smooth, very soft, lots of malt and deep intense hops. Long intense aftertaste, round and smooth, sessionable with lots of deep caramel and soft roast. Great

Bottle shared with Erzengel! A dark brown beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of strong dark malt, intense hoppy dark fruits, chocolate. Taste of chocolate, dark mild roasted malt, bitter resinous hops, citrus, great.

imdownthepub (25067) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2016
Bottled, 330ml, aged 5.75 yrs from Burg Bieren, Ermelo, Netherlands. Dark ruby brown with cream head. This is a particularly rich and smooth beer, there is a palate filling fruitiness, plums and a port wine character. Hints of alcohol but in a really pleasant way, there is also a smooth caramel element. Superb in its aged condition and a lovely beer.

11/7/2009 11:22:07 AM Tap at BBF. Dark brown with tan head. Nice caramel nose, with some grapefruit. Lots of grapefruit in the flavour. High ABV well contained. Really nice and much different than the darker brews at the festival.

Quack-Duck (11867) - Down South, GERMANY - DEC 18, 2015
bottle from a trade with bierkoning a few years back. Golden-brown with a white head. Good resiny-herbal hop aroma. Full-bodied, malty background, resiny and herbal hop flavours with a hint of citrus fruit. Hints of dark dried fruit and caramel. Good.

Grima (2612) - Merzkirchen, RLP, GERMANY - MAY 1, 2015
Bottle from Bierkompass! 2010 edition with 9.2%alc.
Pours muddy brown with high creamy head. Aroma has chocolate and fruity hops. Taste is intense heavy malty, with some chocolate and brown sugar as well as some fruity hops. Goes into a heavy malty, sugary and slight alcoholic finish. Overall a well aged Doppelbock with heavy malt notes and surprisingly lots of fruity hops.

Alengrin (10701) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 8, 2014
Atypical and very heavy Doppelbock in collaboration with Revelation Cat. Pale beige head, bronze colour; complex aroma of liquorice, passion fruit, cognac, apple, honey; full and rich, sweet malty and fruity taste, soft carbonation, drying in the finish with pleasant hop bitterishness and warming alcohol. Very nice.

Notes from backlog. Caramelly sweetness, fruity hopiness. Nicely balanced against each other.

Bottle at Craig’s. 3 year old bottle and it’s still hoppy! Aroma of pine and grapefruit and caramel. Rich caramel and toffee, hint of treacle also some grapefruit and pine. More like an American barley wine, slightly sweet with a crisp finish. Delish.

4.2
Benjii (3050) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 5, 2012
Pours a dark amber brown colour with a thick light tan head. A lovely hoppy aroma of pine, pineapple, candy sugar, chocolate, soy sauce and alcohol. Similar flavours with an oily mouth-feel. Lingering chocolate and soy sauce again. Superb!
