(Rating #5938)

Bottle at Mondial de la Biere, Strasbourg 2011. Pours dark brown with a diminishing head. Fruity aromas. And aromas of wine. Also some cask wood and alcohol. Full bodied.

Lubiere (16388) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 25, 2011
2009 Cask. A deep dark ale with a light reddish hue and a thin mocha head. In aroma, smooth acids over dark fruits, chocolate, not bad. In mouth, a tart molasses with light acidity, a bit harsh, lingering. On tap at St-Bock’s 5th Anniversary, Oct. 15 2011.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy deep amber with to brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, citrusy and slight chemical. Smooth, citric and crisp fruity with a mellow yeasty note. Lingering fruity and slight citric finish, Crisp and easy. Nice.

[email protected] Very sweet aroma with loads of dark dried fruits and lightly alcoholic. That promised a lot! But they didn’t succeed... Very dark brown, small beige head, no lace. Sweet, sour, very fruity, dark dried fruits and bitter finish. Not as powerful as the aroma and totally out of balance with the alcohol too much present,

In short: An uber-syrupy sweet and very vinous sour ale. Strangely drinkable monster
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear dark ruby body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Big malty fruity vinous nose. Taste is very vinous, plenty of dark grapes, sour cherries, toffee. Syrupy sticky texture. I did not notice the abv when I ordered the beer, I see now that this was a 13% beer?!?! The body was thick, syrupy and heavy but I would have never guessed such a high abv. Named after the Apocalypse, when everybody kiss their ass goodbye, making you regret not using a bidet.

Scauca (490) - Lovere, ITALY - NOV 8, 2010
Thanks Laurent. Strong cherry aroma developing in some oak leathery vanilla character warming up. Quite hidden ABV, strong complex fruity sourness. Very good.

@Mondial de la Bière 2010, Strasbourg - dark brown colour with a ruby hue; poor head retention; aroma of wood, apple and pear with a lactic touch; full-bodied and pretty sweet, a fair sourness and a dry finish; aftertaste of wood, prune, vanilla with a lingering sourness - an impressive beer which remembers me the BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien

Fred82 (2334) - Québec City, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 25, 2010
On tap at brewpub’s 4th anniversary.
Appearance : Pitch black with no head.
Aroma : Fruity cherry-ish with some acidity. Some roasted malt also.
Taste : Fruity and cherry-ish. Finish roasted malt and some acidity. Rather warm.
Overall : Enjoyable fruits. A bit bit surprised to find roasted malt there. Not much alcohol especially considering the abv. Good stuff.
