COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Earl (1911-1985) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Stout is crafted from American malted barley, Flaked Oats, English roasted malts, American hops, Organic Guatemalan Coffee, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. A silhouette of coffee and malt - an embodiment of complexity and drinkability, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Earl. 7.2% ALC/VOL 18º P Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2019 500 ml bottle, shared by Werckmeister at Werckmeisters place, bottled 24.5.2019 many thanks! Pours a nearly black red-brown with a tan colored head. The aroma is full with loads of coffee, mocha, cocoa, dark chocolate, licorice, soy sauce, light fruity notes, tobacco. Medium-full body with a light to medium sweetness and a medium roasty bitterness. The flavor is again dominated by coffee notes along, lots of dark chocolate, heavily roasted malt, burnt notes, soy sauce. Finishes with a distinct lasting roasty bitterness. Very roasty, pretty bitter and not entirely balanced. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 7 Palate: 4 Overall: 15

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2019 500 ml bottle, bottled May 24 2019. Black body, with a quite big, creamy, coffee-colored head. Aroma of freshly grinded coffee, soy sauce, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, some tobacco, some dark fruits, subtle toffee, slight ash. Tastes similar. Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes roasty-dry, a bit bitter, a bit wooden, with coffee, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, slight toffee. Very tasty! Lovely, distinctive coffee notes throughout, while also diverse, robust roasted malt and chocolatey notes. Drinks smooth and balanced, great Coffee Stout. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17

Ljus (759) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 9, 2019

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2019 Bottle shared at a Lucky Bamboo share. Thanks Adam! Pours a pitch black with a finger of brown head that lingers. Lovely roasted malt, cacao nib, dark chocolate truffle and light treacle notes. Deep vanilla bean as it warms up. Well-balanced on the palate between dark roast and sweet chocolate and vanilla. Slightly creamy mid-palate to finish with lingering cold brew coffee and a mild bitterness that counters the sweetness. Everything in its right place.
