COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The original brewed Lambic. Letting this beer age for 1, 2 or 3 years and mixing those for fresh Lambic makes a Gueuze. A Gueuze is also bottle conditioned which gives it carbonation. The Lambic however is complete flat without bubbles. Available only in draught form.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Girardin Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Girardin Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

Golden colour with thin soapy head. Aroma is dry and sharp with some grape like sweet sourness. Some farmy funk too. Flavour is milder. A bit light bodied. Low carbonation.

Keg @Grote Dorst, Eizeringen. 15-08-2017.

Milder than the ones we had before this one in our Grote Dorst session. Smooth and enjoyable, of course sour, but more balanced than in other examples, Easy and good.

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Aroma is grainy with straw, soft fruits, green apples, wood, musty and earthy notes. Lightly funky. Mildly sour with an unexpected dry bitter flavour. Decent, not what I expected, not bad as a beer but not anywhere near what I want from my Lambic.

Draft at beertemple. Aroma of tart horseblanket, old grain and oak. Taste has dry tart, horseblanket, oak, brett, grassy herbs and a watery finish. Solid, not the best.

Fra fat på DØE ølfestival, Lokomotivværkstedet mai-17: lett uklar lys kobber uten skum. Hovedinntrykket er sure bær med et snev av vineddik. Ufrisk og ubehaglig. Arbeidsuhell?

Aroma is wood and ’pinot de charentes’. Wry oak. No carbonation at all. Nice sour.
