F0BAB 2010: This p0ured a light br0wnish/yell0w (yell0wish/br0wn?) with a ring in lieu 0f a head. The ar0ma was pretty much a malt0se sugary sweetness. On tap for Hard Liver ’12, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma of light bourbon, liqueur-covered fruits and toasted bread. Sampled at FoBAB 2010. Reddish orange with a very small off white head. Aroma of bourbon, caramel, light vanilla and fruit. Flavor is pretty similar. Lots of boozy bourbon and caramel. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Finishes on a sweet boozy note.

Sampled @ FoBaB 2010. Appearance is a clear, copper color. Moderate, malty aroma. Sherry notes with sweet caramel and some dark fruits. Taste is a light caramel, malty sweetness that is very well balanced by a the bourbon flavors in the finish. Mildly warming and hides the 11% very well. light body. Soft carbonation. On draft at Stone 14th Anniversary. Golden pour with nice head. Aroma was brown sugar, burnt caramel, and some whiskey. Taste was mild bourbon and sweet sugars. Mild carbonation. Sample at Maui Brewing in Lahaina. Poured a taffy brown with thin head. Aroma was boozy and unsettled with sharp hops and treacle. Taste was severely uneven. Booze overpowered any subtleties. Hops are evident with some malt backing but this feels like a beer lacking refinement and finish. Not a good quality barley wine, more of a booze monster.
