[ Vintage 1992 ]. Clear medium amber color with virtually none head. Aroma is malty, roasted, caramel, toffee, vintage. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (020808)
Bottle at chris_o’s la bouffon ya rook tasting. Alround rating: Toffee caramel malt character, grape like sharp sherry oxidation, tart burn, a typical vintage british ale and very drinkable at that. cgarvieuk (30491) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 21, 2008

Old old amber looks with not much chance of getting up a head anymore. Big christmas cake stuff all round. Lots of oxidisation. Lots of caramel. Vintageness all round but it has lasted so well. I can’t believe a Thwaites beer would end up like this. Or does this prove it used to be much much better back in the day.
Bottled. Deep amber colour, not much head. Aroma is oxidized, dark fruity and caramel malty along with some mild earthyness. Flavour is likewise and ends quite abruptly.

Dark amber with no head. Sweet aroma with dark fruits, caramel and caramel notes. Flavor likewise with a sweet end. Bov (14988) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - MAY 20, 2008
I had this beer many years ago (early 1990s) at one time when I was only giving ratings to the beers but was too lazy and stupid to write down my thoughts. I will update this if I’m lucky enough to get my hands on an old bottle. SilkTork (6353) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2008
275ml bottle from Shropshire. Vintage unmarked - probably late 1970s. Very dark ruby brown. Rich aroma - fruit cake, plums, banana, cardboard, shortcake biscuit, coir carpet. Lovely taste - great balance of sweet and bitter. Bursting with ripe flavours. Very drinkable. No stale flavours - a repeat of the aroma but with chocolate added, and no cardboard. Very attractive. Very enjoyable. Very moreish. A treat from first to last - and this beer didn’t hang around in the glass for long!
