COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Tocobaga people lived off the bounty of Tampa Bay hundreds of years before the arrival of the Spanish in the 1500’s. They were potters, tool makers and the only Florida natives to grow maize. These original Tampanians are celebrated with Tocobaga Red IPA, an assertive but balanced ale that marries the pine and citrus qualities of Citra hops with an assertive bitterness from Summit hops and malt flavors of caramel and bread crust.

kassner (2219) - Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 20, 2019
UPDATED: APR 20, 2019 I like the looks of red ales and this deep amber color looks great with a nice head. Overall the beer is a little thin and over carbonated in the can. Malt is there but not as much in some so the hops play a bigger role.

snowcrash000 (666) - Cologne, GERMANY - APR 19, 2019
UPDATED: APR 19, 2019 Pours a deep, dark, ruby red coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt and notes of citrus and red berries, with just a hint of pine. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of bready, caramel malt and piney, bitter citrus hops as well as a good dose of red berries, with notes of toffee, grapefruit, redcurrant and pine. Finishes with a strong bitterness and some citrus and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. This reminds me a LOT of Arrogant Bastard, but seems almost better, as blasphemous as that may sound, but perhaps this is simply due to this being a lot fresher than I was ever able to find AB. Great balance of bready, caramel malts and resinous, citrus hops, with a strong, piney bitterness, awesome stuff.

Jabah (2076) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - MAR 7, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2019 UPDATE- Cigar City sold out to big beer and not mass produced/distributed. Quality went down but still a solid red ale. Original Review 2/8/12- I was curious to try this but never got around to buying the bomber cause the price was $8-$9 or whatever. Then....I saw the 6-packs and HAD to get one to sample. At $10.99 this is a way better deal. Basically, a good hoppy smooth RED ale. I don't know why they list it as amber ale here. But yeah, the color is more towards the amber side. Tastes like a west coast (Lagunitas-style) Red Ale/IPA hybrid. Aroma has some citrus-pine to it. Another fine brew by the best brewer in my homestate. Recommended to anyone who can get this in their area and likes this style....but wait for the 6-packs, cause even as good quality as it is, not sure if quite worth the bomber price.

Turboninja (1439) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 9, 2019
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2019 [email protected], Tampere, Finland. Medium, averagely balanced nuances of red berries, some fresh fruits, a hint of caramel. Some malty notes and averagely hopped. Medium taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with hoppy malts and some fruits. Medium, soft body with medium carbonation. Overall, good quality with nice berry twist. Could have more taste though (probably not the most fresh keg). 8 4 8 4 16
