Bov (13004) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - SEP 3, 2017
courtesy of Mirko Messer - black beer under a solid dark beige foam; aroma of toasted black chocolate, vanilla and tobacco; moderate malt body, subtle carbonation; light sweet and with a late tartness; grainy bitter coffeish finish

Black with a small foam, the appearence is enticing and the nose has a lot of rye bread, chocolate, espresso, "mämmi" (Finnish readers understand it), and slight smokiness, the beer seems sweeter on the nose, but when you drink it, it is not sweet but bitter, has a dry finish and a semibitter midpalate, the bitterness following thru to the aftertaste, dominating it, with dark rye bread like characteristics.

5.6% alk.

Hamirubi (592) - Waarschoot, BELGIUM - MAY 10, 2016
33cl bottle at at Albergo La Chatelaine in Fénis, Italy (6 V 2016), shared with friends. This brew has now a 5.3% ABV. Black tanned stout with beige-ish head steadily turning white. Again a very straightforward beer from Les Bières du Grand St. Bernard Amy: Standard stout - sweet stout? - with notes of tap water, coffee residu, and even iron. The medium body gives a keen coffee taste, with little malt and a fair dash of bitterness. Little roast, some mint, a hoppy finish. All in all a bit too little complex, and too much (tap) water.

markas101 (2482) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JAN 17, 2015
33 cl bottle, Le Chable, Switzerland via Etroubles, Italy. Dark opaque brown, thin head. Coffee and a somewhat sweet aroma. Bitter, balanced with a long coffee infused bright hop finish.

deusax (459) - Grenoble, FRANCE - MAY 22, 2014
Bottle got in supermarket in Aosta. Very dark, with a thin head which disapear quickly. Aroma is strong, well balanced, with definitely some oat/rye notes. Taste is quite basic for a stout, with strong roasted malts. A good basic stout.

erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - SEP 2, 2013
Totally balck bodied and with caramel coloured head. Smooth and not terribly complex yet very nice coffee aroma, liquorish bitterness, humous and rye bread. Fairly full mouth feel for the abv, medium bitterness and good balance from darker malts. Not sharp and cerainly not imperial, but a decent stout. Drink too warm or the light body will feel a bit too watery. Nice. Brave attempt from this brewer too. (33cl bottle from shop in Aoste valley)

Overall pleasant and smooth beer, pours dark brown, very little head, aroma of roasted malts, good mouthfeel.
