courtesy of Laurent Mousson - hazy dark amber colour under a solid creamy beige foam; nice lacework; notes of red fruits and slightly dusty; highly carbonated, medium- to full-bodied, creamy palate, some bitterness and pretty dry; long yeasty finish with more notes of red fruits - subtle JorisPPattyn (10826) - Wilrijk, BELGIUM - OCT 13, 2010
Upon pouring, immediate conversion from beer to huge, ultradense foam, just short of gushing. Slowly reforming beer is muddy orange-brown. Lightly spicy caramellike & darker malts, cypress & liquorice aromas. Spicy, lightly roasted bitterness, with more sweet malts lurking below. More cypress, touch of mint. Waffles syrup retronasal, if not sweet nor sticky. Warming up, bit alarming flavour of shrimp. Medium bodied, quite slick. Creamy texture due to the rock-solid head. Head is out of this (beer)world. Not one to serve too warm, despite its historic origins. I wonder about the warming up flavoursigns. Grand merci à André & Dany pour les bouteilles!
