Bottle @ Kuhnhenn: Labeled as "Blackberry Dessert Pyment" so I assume this is the same (or similar enough). Deep, indigo tinted red body, decent legs on the glass. Aroma of raspberry & blackberry juice, honey sweetness, tart berry, & mild red wine notes. Flavor is more sweet, honey coated & slightly tart berries with a lingering bit of vinous warmth in the finish. Coats the palate with honeycomb. Good stuff. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 21, 2012
6oz nip bottle. big thanks to steve for sending me such a great variety of kuhnhenn meads.... pours a perfectly still deep black cherry hued consistency, leggy as always with a little substance to its body... aroma has the forwardness of a dessert mead upfront with sweet velvety honey accents which take frontstage while the blackberry and raspberries follow suit soon thereafterwards. rich and sweet with enough fruitiness to keep the mixture inviting... flavors follow suit there nicely with a fairly nice balance between the sacharine nature of the honey and the sweet fruit blackberry forwardness of the port. prolongingly sweet, that much lasts well into the finish. hints of its strength is noticeable but not distracting. a peppery bite apparent at first but sees to fade late. warm re-surfaces late again. bu11zeye (13702) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUN 11, 2012

Bottle... Clear, deep crimson mead with oodles of legwork. The bouquet is a simple offering of raspberry tartness and methanol. Full-bodied and silky. The flavor consists mostly of sweet honey, but there’s a nice dose of blackberry tanginess as well. Finishes sweet, tangy and tannic. Bottle sampled at Capone’s from a random bro. Pours a deep red/black wine color with no head. Aroma is berry, wine, jam, and some earth notes. Mouthfeel is like a thick wine that doesnt burn of alcohol - notes of blackberry, strawberry, blueberry jam, grapes, wine, honey, and a touch of vanilla. Thanks man, next one’s on me.

Thanks to blutt59 and thirdeye11 for going in with me on 16 Kuhnhenn meads. This was part of an epic 20 mead tasting.
Pours a reddish-purple color. The aroma is full of blackberries and grapes. The flavor is more of the same. I get blackberries, honey, grapes and a little bit of oak. Medium mouthfeel. I wish I got more port character, but it is still enjoyable. Cavie (5681) - Arlington, Texas, USA - SEP 8, 2011
