COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

75cl fles editie 2013 Proefglas

UPDATED: APR 5, 2020 Bottle (9/18/12(!)) pour from trade with Johnnniee--thanks, John! Appearance is clear, dark brown (dark ruby with light source directly behind) with tons of sparkle at the edges of the glass, 2-finger-width creamy khaki head with good retention and trace lacing. Aroma is sweet malts along with noticeable complementary smoked wood. Taste is strong smoked wood (cedar?) mellowing to richer generic campfire smoke which dominates the roasted malt backbone. Mild dark fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with silky smooth texture, soft carbonation, mild alcohol warmth (which seems appropriate) and finish as taste. Overall, fairly unique amongst smoke beers--not necessarily wild about the initial blast of smoked wood, which is like cedar, and the overall smoke obscures the base beer but it mellows to a decent place and appears to have held up reasonably well so you really can age it. Lovely mouthfeel.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2020 Piwo ciemnobrunatne, piana drobna, beżowa. W aromacie oczywiście wędzonka i ciemne nuty, lekka śliwka, karmel. W smaku ponownie wędzone słody, czekolada, kawa zbożowa, jest lekka kwaskowość i chmielowa goryczka. Raczej wytrawne. Bardzo gładkie, ale niezbyt cieliste. Lubię wędzone piwa, ale tu mnie nic specjalnie nie urzekło.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2019 Really amazing and very special beer to drink.. when the beer flow in your mouth you get very fast many smoked/coffe notes that give you pleasure.. The taste is very strong and the beer has amazing mouthfeel.. All the notes here are very thick and rich and in the end you feel very glad that you try this beer.. I have taste and other beers on the same style but this is more heavier and rich.. Overall the best 'Porter - Smoked' beer i have taste until now.. You cant go wrong with such great stuff despite the expensive price it has...

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2019 Bottle, early 2018. Sherry, cherries, molasses drenched plums, dark chocolate, tobacco, subtle smoke. Soft and creamy mouthfeel, subtle tartness balancing the subtle sweetness. Additional notes of pipe tobacco in the flavour and prune in the finish. Superb stuff.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2019 Bottle ((22oz) 2018 version just bought at Costco. Nearly black with 1 finger tan head. Nice roasted malt aroma. Taste starts out with a nice roasted malts with a little chocolate flavor, then the smoke comes in and then fades. I like this very much.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2019 2018 version from bomber from local liquor store. Nice mellow smoke in well formulated porter. Just right quantities of smoke, alcohol, roasted malt. This years edition is great right now. Can’t wait for the one I have aging to go a year or two.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2019 Bottle brought back from Alaska - many thanks to Jan! 2017 edition. Pours hazy black with a slowly diminishing, foamy, beige head. Aroma of smoked ham ('Schinken'), beef jerky, black tea, coffee ground, soy, chocolate, dried fig, tobacco leaves. Taste is light to medium malty sweet, restrained chocolate, nuts, pairing nicely with fig & sourish brambleberry; the core is smoky, umami, hints of black olive, ham & jerky, soft bitterness of tobacco & tea, restrained coffee & toast. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, smoky, more tobacco & chocolate. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Very rich & delicate, excellent balance between Smoked & Porter as promised...
