UPDATED: OCT 11, 2019 500ml bottle brewed in Germany at 6.3%. Rich yellow gold colour. Small, short-lasting head. Slight citrus and bready, corny aroma. Moderate-medium carbonation. Taste does not follow the aroma thankfully, there's a mild nondescript citrus bittersweet kick but then a rich dark-bread malt makes itself known, much better than weedy reedy lagery white-bread malts, and really carries this beer. It's sweet, even verging on caramely, but it's anything but sickly, and the flavours mesh very well, giving the brewer quite an accomplished impression - something most Augustiner beers tend to do. If it takes 6.3% ABV to have a lager with this level of flavour, go for it I say. Mortlach (3677) - Rome, ITALY - OCT 9, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 9, 2019 From fass @Birrifugio Trastevere (Rome). Dorata, limpidissima, brillante, schiuma bianca media, molto persistente. Al naso note di mollica di pane, cereali, pasta lievita. In bocca è maltata dolce, un po' monocorde. Corpo leggero, carbonazione media. Nonostante tutto, ha un suo perché. LazyPyro (4076) - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 7, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2019 50cl bottle. Clear pale golden, big white head. Aroma of sweet pale malts. Taste also sweet pale malts, caramel, almost no bitterness. Medium body. Fin (12831) - Attenkirchen, GERMANY - OCT 6, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 6, 2019 Bottle picked up from REWE, Zolling and consumed at home, Attenkirchen, Sunday 6th October 2019 cooking Minced Beef and Cheese Pies and listening to Elena Tonra from Daughter and her solo album Ex:Re. Pours golden with a clean white head. Enjoying this, malty but certainly not too sweet, in fact displays a little dryness and a bit of bitterness, crisp and cleaner than expected. Przyjemny oktoberfest SinH4 (12011) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - SEP 7, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 21, 2019 2019 bottle, drank from the bottle. Aroma is sweet malts, light caramel and feinwürzig. Taste is caramel, sweet malts, some rustic hops and again that Feinwürze. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Quaffable and fun! BREWMUSKCLES (3017) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 23, 2019
2019 bottle, a couple weeks later, in a blind tasting of all Wiesenbiere plus some more Festbiere. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is sulphuric, sweet rice puffs, smacks, a bit cereals. Taste is the same, some honey. We managed to guess this beer correctly out of the lineup due to the Augustiner-typical sulphur. I also turned out to give the same score.
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2019 kind of smooth with a little caramel and Earth. A little boozy for the style. Some malt some vine and herb with mild sugar. Some vibrancy here and a touch of oil. Refreshing. Not heavy but busy enough with that little bit of soul and Almond. Some fuzzy barnyard grain. holdleder (472) - Kongerslev, DENMARK - NOV 4, 2018
