COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

Solidna pozycja. Ciemny (z refleksami) kremowy imperial staut.

Can from Westhill Service Station. Pours jet black with a creamy bubbly tan head. There’s no arguing. 5/5. Aromas of boozy fruits, dark chocolate and a whiff of smooth caramel. Then a roasted milky coffee. Yeah, this beer smells great. Taste brings home the abv’s. Boozy vapour and dried fruit, bitter dark roast coffee bean wrapped in a woody rum cask. The beers feels lovely with a smooth, thick feel (although I’d like it thicker) and a gentle prickle-like sparkle. Thick, rich(ish), bitter then boozy. One pint of Impy stout will lay your life bare.

Beaten up can (thanks UPS). Pours black with a very thick chocolate-reddish head. Very stiky, as the foam dissipates it leavs an oily film on the glass walls. Promising. Aroma of roasted malts, roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate, some milky (lactose?) notes too. I get some alcohol. I take the first sip and... damn, this is probably the thickest beer I ever had! It feels like drinking melt dark chocolate mixed with a strong liquor. So, taste is rather sweet (chocolate, caramel), but totally balanced by bitter roasted and alcoholic notes. At the first sips I can definitely feel a alcoholic warming in my throat. Mouthfeel is fantastic: thick, oily, the beers sticks to the tongues and all over the mouth leaving a long espresso aftertaste. This is the kind of body the Imperial Biscotti Break lacks. Great beer. Great sipper.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 16 oz tall boy can. Coal black pour with a thini mocha colored head that leaves light lacing. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, and a wee bit of alcohol. Flavor is full io chocolate, has some marshmallow notes, a hint of coffee and some vanilla to round it out. Excellent roastiness - espresso-like. Rich, creamy mouthfeel. Me like, best Impy i have had in a while, no soy sauce!

App: black, vert little head. Aroma: mainly coffee and dark chocolate, also rosty notes, noble alcohol, if you can call it that. Taste: loads of dark chocolate and coffee, maybe plum in chocolate. Palate: low carbonation, medium sweet, with rather full body, which is to my taste, unfortunately with alcoholic finish. Overall: Not very interesting, but I like sweetness and body, but as I said - not so much going on there. All in all it's just okay, but nothing more than that. I was expecting so much more, again...

I like this better than the port version. Nice roast and rich. Kind of the quintessential beer of the style.

Taste: dark Chocolate, vanilla, dark roasted espresso beans, licorice, caramel, fudge, umami/soy sauce, brown sugar, molasses, brownie, dark fruit, graham crackers, dates, raisins, roasted nuts. Aus der Pint-Dose wie Motoröl, dunkelbrauner Schokocappuccino-Cremeschaum. Geiler Scheiß. Im Trunk leicht alkoholisch, Röstmalz, Weinbrandschokobohnen. Im Angang bitter, malzig.
