COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Poterie is French for “pottery”, the traditional eight-year anniversary gift. Our eighth anniversary ale, Poterie, follows in the footsteps of our anniversary releases before it, which are loosely based on an English-style old ale, fermented with our house yeast strain and then blended using the solera method. This means that a portion of each anniversary ale is saved in oak barrels and blended in with the next year’s production, providing more complexity and depth of character as the years go by. The result is layered in robust and complex flavors of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla and oak. Poterie will age gracefully for decades when cellared properly. Editor’s Note: This is the entry for The Bruery’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Anniversary beer.

Marko (10626) - Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC - APR 8, 2021
UPDATED: APR 8, 2021 Bottle, 2016, bourbon barrel, at Goblet, with Didibau, Rabran, Pero B and Mladi Marjan. Very dark brown body, traces of a tiny off-white head. Huge bourbon-coconut, rich, slightly oxidated maltiness - dried figs and dust and cocoa, rogač. Lean taste, caramel, woody, barrel notes, nutty, dried figs, light vanilla, solid well integrated alcohol coming well with the woody notes, bitter, orange liqueur. Oh wow, is this a wow at times. Soft, complex, supremely balanced. Can't say there is no rough barrel notes here and there, but this is fantastic at sips. Huge props!

ctipping (3555) - Florida, USA - FEB 15, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2021 On tap at Das Beer Garden as Etain. Deep brown. Smells of bourbon, earthy leather, oak, and light oxidation. Tastes of heavy bourbon and alcohol. Sweet caramel. Oak. Heavy and boozy. I had a small pour, which was enough. It's quite tasty though. I haven't had a version of this beer in years. The concept seems to be developing well, though.

Antonio369 (537) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - APR 29, 2020
UPDATED: APR 30, 2020 75 cl bottle served in a snifter. Poured dark brown with small light tan head that dissipated immediately. Lots of yeast strains in glass. Minimum carbonation. Aroma: bourbon, bourbon, and...what a surprise...some more bourbon....then, cognac, oak, vanilla, toasted coconut, chocolate, plums, sultana, caramel, toffee, raspberries. Taste: dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, oak, toasted coconut, plums, sultana, dates, almond paste, nougat, Graham crackers, rum soaked raisin bread, raspberries, figs compote, licorice, molasses, muscovado sugar, soy sauce, apricots, strawberry jam, butter cake, praline chocolate, dark fruit, cacao butter. A chewy and oily mouthfeel...this is awesome! A long fruity bittersweet finish with a lot and lot of bourbon. So complex...this is perfection in a glass...beer porn...and now I just have to stash a bottle or two of this nectar for my cellar to see how it ages. What an insane sensational brew.
