COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kloster is brewed in Thailand under license and "close supervision" of Kloster Brauerei in Germany. Note: Kloster seems to be an InBev brand ("Third most importand brand in the Beck & Co. portfolio.") brewed in Thailand, first by Thai Amarit (from 1975-2002), then by Boon Rawd (2003+).

I wish they would supervise this one a bit more closely. A typical ero lager style of beer that lacks a fair bit in the flavour and balance stakes. Very light body an thin mouthfeel. Oh well, it was cheap.

A poor showing with a nice label. Thin, often skunky, little body, dirty finish. Better off drinking Leo for less.

Taverner (1237) - SAN RAMON, California, USA - MAR 5, 2008
Fairly flavorless, not much hop or aroma. Better than Singha though. Pours golden with a white head, stays effervescent.

mabjork (693) - Vasa, FINLAND - AUG 9, 2006
Canned. Clear golden in colour. No head. It has a sweet and grassy aroma. The flavour is sweet consisting of malt and corn.

Canned (thanks omhper!). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma of vegetables and bread dough. Flavour is grassy and malty. Dry hops and very mouthdrying beer. Unpleasant.

TBone (24222) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 30, 2006
Can (canned 12/2005). Yellow color, no head. Slightly fruity aroma. Typical tropical lager: light, fruity (apples), boring. Not much German here except the name.

bitter (1136) - Henderson, Nevada, USA - JUL 12, 2006
i knew about this beer before leaving the states so i sought it out to try. i believe they brew this to appeal to the large amt of german guys going over to thailand to get some poontang. typical pale lager stuff. drikable and unaffensive.

mongkut4 (132) - Florida, USA - MAR 22, 2006
Typical of Thai lagers trying to appeal to the "farang" or foreign market. Believed to be upscale it in reality is watery and fairly tasteless and inferior even to other lower grade Thai beers.

Siivu (6) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 19, 2005 does not count
A very thin beer and weak aroma. Leaves a fruity and bitter aftertaste. Not too bad, but not in the top of thai beers.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Looks like a licensed German beer, but I haven’t been able to track down "Klosterbrauerei Neustadt A/D" and for good reason, as it seems to be a completely fake company! Weird... Anyways, the beer is rather pale with a pretty fine head. Nice aromatic hops in the nose. Mild with some hop-bite on the palate. Not that bad. Basically the same company as produces "Singha" - "Boon Rawd". 101103

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2005 The hope of any kind of change from "Singha on ice" attracts ye wounded prey. Did you really think you had suddenly found a good beer? Hope springs eternal, as does mediocrity. Dreaming dreams of kolsches lost, the weeping begins. Weeping, I say!
