(on tap @ Café Abseits, Bamberg, in 2012) Orange to amber colored, hazy, with an off-white, creamy head - a fine layer with some big bubbles remaining. Served in a wine glass, this is quite mouth-watering. Very intense fruit aroma of tropical fruit, especially mango, passion fruit, mandarin oranges and pineapple. Becomes a little more tangy towards the end, slightly peppery. Despite its 104 IBU, the bitterness is not too strong. It is accompanied by a certain sweetness, so that the taste is well balanced. Due to the high ABV, this one feels a little warming. Soft carbonation, with a creamy mouthfeel. Lovely build-up of hoppy aroma on the palate. A little sticky, alas. Overall great! I had not expected that much aroma from a bottom fermenting beer. sfhodense (4786) - Odense NØ, DENMARK - MAR 6, 2013

Draught @ 4th Borefts Beer Festival 2012, Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands.
Light unclear medium to dark orange colour with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, passion fruit, orange - citrus, light peach, chese notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, spicy hops, fruity, riped fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
From tap @Borefts 2012. Shady bright golden. Tall lacing white head. Inviting fruity-hoppy nose. Lots of tropical and a mild whiff ofresiny hop oils. Soft mouthfeel. Well-bodied. Bold fruity and grassy bitterness. Pineapple and mixed citrus. Refined malty sweetness. Dries up towards a lingering fruity-bitter finish. Nice all over. obirt2000 (9) - Notaresco, ITALY - JAN 24, 2013 does not count

Andy mentioned it was a bit old, starting to oxidize, but that he still liked the citra hop character. and yeah, the hop character was remarkable. so this is a double IPA recipe brewed with bottom-fermenting yeast and lagered for 6 weeks (I think). so if it doesn’t fit with Double IPA, it surely doesn’t fit with "Imperial Pilsner" - so I moved it to Zwickel/Keller/Landbier because it’s a) German b) unfiltered, c) hop-focused, d) hard to fit anywhere else. it’s mosty American citra with some German hops in the mix, but all German malt. the nose is RIDICULOSULY luscious - very much like fresh, dank weed with a strong lemon oil and herbal / vegetal character. medium body with creamy and rich frothing carbonation, washing the tongue with resinous alpha acids and leaving a sticky red /dark malt (doughy bread crust, toasted grain) coating in the mouth. bright, sharp hop acids are tempered by magically soft malt, though slightly oxidized (a little too much wet cardboard and soggy bread), it’s still in great shape.
Grasig hopfiger Beginn. Würzig süß, spaßighopfig, geringfügig trocken. Herber werdend, würzig, rund. Süffig, sehr gut! 11/13/12/12//12

On tap @ Borefts 2012. Blurry glowing honey-golden in color with a big lacing off-white top. Smells really fruity and fresh! Tons of fruity peaches, papaya and mango with pine cones and a little bot of cortex. Really nice. It’s soft on the carbonation. Concentrated strong flavors, really fruity and what I would call grassy. Sweet also in the finish. Enjoyed this one quite much. 28.09.2012 stobbe74 (3788) - DENMARK - NOV 19, 2012
Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2012. Pours a hazy and golden beer with a white head. The aroma is malt and hops with tropical fruit and citrus. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is bitterness. Overall a good beer with a good balance. madmitch76 (33572) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 10, 2012

Borefts Beer Festival IV. Day 1. Hazy gold beer, big cream coloured head. Smooth palate - a little dry. Creamy malt base. Lovely sweetish hops - nice pine and mild hop spice. Tropical fruits. Finishes dry with a little fresh hop sting. A lovely IPA - kept coming back to this on Day 2. One of the festival highlights.
