A blond summer ale whose name refers to the use of elderflowers in its production - the flowers are always planted in little terracotta pots. Although, it could also refer to our infamous concert hall in Bruges: the terracotta roof tiles are always falling off that... The beer has a fruity blossomy fragrance and a slightly acidic cider-like component to the taste.

Summer beer with elderberry flowers from Johan Brandt’s old brewery, which has been closed down and replaced by another one meanwhile, but none of his old beers have been resurrected since then - at least as far as I know of. This one had a pale yellowish, creamy, regular head and deep yolk-coloured yellow robe with orangey hue, cloudy. Aroma of pineapple, mandarin, elderberry flowers, sour cream, earth, kiwi, honey and something sulphuric probably from yeast autolysis. Rather neutral onset, fresh lemony acidity but something stale too, honeyish and very lightly caramelly malts, light on the tongue, elegant, flowery but not sweet, soft herbal hoppiness in the finish which also bears some sourishness probably due to a mild infection; this unfortunately was not in top condition, apparently.

This should be called a flower beer, cause that;s what it tastes like. A blond beer with fresh herbal notes of the garden. Weird, but actually quite nice.

18/11/2010 - 33cl bottle vintage 2006 (exp 2008) @ home

Clear golden to orange beer. Practically no head anymore on pouring. Aroma: yeast, citrus, lambic. MF: low carbon, medium body. Taste: sour, spices. Aftertaste: still sour, little bit metallic in the cheecks. Hard to tell if this ever was a good beer at one point. Impulsive buy when I heard the brewery had stopped brewing every beer except for the "Smisje blond". Next time I’m gonna check the Best Before Date better.

Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Pours a nice Medium golden yellow color. Minimal fizzy white head, lasted maybe a minute or two. Aromas of light spices, a touch of brown sugar, and something vegetal.

Bottle. Appearance of infected urine. Aroma of dirty underwear. Taste is tart, with citrus and root beer. A very strange beer indeed.

Whoa buddy! This is tied for worst beer I’ve ever had! I actually have just as much fun trying to find the worst beer in the world as I do the best. I pours a hazy/sickly bladder infection yellow with no head. Aroma is- no joke- used Depends adult diapers. But wait! The taste is the same! Tastes like someone’s urine after they drank lots of pineapple juice but then it sat in an adult diaper for awhile but has been graciously rung out and dripped into a glass for my enjoyment! Hurray!

11th May 2008. Sharp cloudy amber/light brown beer. Some orange tones that are overwhelmed by a dry slightly soapy taste and feel. Infected?

Bart (2935) - Brussels, BELGIUM - APR 18, 2009
Hazy yellow coloured beer with almost no carbonation and a very small white head. Fruity bitter hoppy aroma, some sprankling medium to full palate. Finish is light bitter hoppy as well. Not bad but not overwhelming.
