Nov 2018 - 330ml bottle at home in Richmond - Cellar Cleansing No 1 of 2018. As 'Durham Hellfire', 10%, 2012 bottling, limited ed of 1000 bottles. There was a time when these Durham imperial stouts were much sought after - now a total obscurity. Pours opaque black with a foamy brown head. Aroma is putty/plasticine, strawberry cheesecake, red pepper, bubblegum, raspberry ripple. Fun. Body is smooth, rounded with soft to low carbonation. Taste is light, chocolatey, the chilli is now mercifully integrated into the flavour (I'm guessing it was once too much), cherry chocolate and a very-much building chilli heat. Pretty enjoyable actually - I can handle this level of spice and it has a rounded chocolatey vibe. For a novelty beer it's fairly decent and the age hasn't hurt it at all. 28/7/2018. Bottle at Højbjerg tasting. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruit, malt and light chilli, the aroma gives no warning of what's to come. Taste dominated by the chilli taking away the usual senses! Medium plus body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Hellfire is right!! Bamsen78 (6497) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUL 28, 2018
Bottle @ Højbjerg tasting 28 July. Pours hazy dark brown with airy light tan head. Clear aroma of malt and chocolate, with mild notes of chili and yeast. Spicy, chili flavour with notes of malt and roast and touches of yeast and hops. Spicy, chililike aftertaste with estery and malty notes. Not bad, the chili being just as well-balanced as it ought to be. HenrikSoegaard (15843) - Randers, DENMARK - JUL 28, 2018

Not intensive aroma of chocolate, some fruits like apple with mineral afternose. Taste of chocolate with extremely spicy finish. The most spicy beer ever drunk. Watery. Medium carbonation. Unbalanced. mariuspoenari (3298) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAR 11, 2017
