Tasted at Richement Bière 2014. Pours a very dark brown colour with a persistent tan head. Aroma is more floral than hoppy with some roasty and licorice notes. Soft carbonation and medium to full creamy body. Taste is dry, bitter and well balanced sweet. Overall, a very good beer but misses a more hoppy aroma and taste.

Deep brown aroma with frothy yet lasting beige head. Classic hops playing next to modern foresty hops and a roasted and nutty malt base. Oats and brown bread to go with it. Nice interpretation of the style. Odd yet interesting taste, starting with fruity sweetness and chocolate, moving towards a soft body bready base. Light bitter only, for the style. Soft carbonation, long-ish aftertaste. Tasteful, not complex and perhaps not the fresh orangey hops found elsewhere yet well brewed and original enough. Nice! (33cl bottle from Bière Révolution)

25 cl. draft sampled @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Weird murky brown with a creamy big CML head. Nose is pine & grapefruit hops buried underneath cacao, sweet syrup, some chocolate & lightly roasted malts. Taste is grapefruit hoppy, covered by prune jam, cacao, chocolate, syrup, sweet overripe fruits, raisins, roasted malts,… Lively carb. Messy but quite enjoyable.

33cl from Mi-orge, Mi-houblon - Merci Christophe! - Surprising and very intersting "Black" or rather "Darkbrown" IPA: pours a light and almost translucent dark maroon, decent carbonation, light-medium mouthfeel and a very subtle exotic hop profile: jonagold, pear, older citrus. Counterweight: cara- and coffee malts which add to the taste, not to the body. Extra points for uncomplicated drinkability, making it almost refreshing. - Loquatious label instructing the uninitiated and mentioning a female brewer. - Nice French take on a dark IPA!

A surprise find on tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, yay! Poured a misty blackish brown body with a huge off white head. Green fruit in the nose, full maltiness, some roast and raisins. Lovely aroma. Interesting perfumey aromatic hopiness on top of a full malty background, slightly herbal overall and not that bitter, wouldn’t have called it a black IPA but a great beer? Sure!

courtesy of Laurent Mouson - pours a dark brown beer with a long lasting dark beige foam; toasted with fair notes of coffee and biscuit and with some fruity hoppiness looking through it; creamy palate and medium-bodied, a solid yet not aggressive bitterness; nice play between biscuity malts, coffee and lot of hop presence in the finish - another great work from Marjorie

Draft @ ML Fontainas.
