COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Edition No. 4 – O’Hara’s Leann Folláin 8.1% abv
Edition no. 4 in the series is our highly acclaimed O’Hara’s Leann Folláin, winner of the Concours M Biere Pierre Celis Platinum Medal at the Mondial de la Biére September 2014 in France and Gold Medal winner at the Irish Whiskey Awards October 2014. Each swing top bottle is individually numbered and is one of only 5500 bottles produced.

To craft this beer, luxurious full bodied Leann Folláin stout was matured for 90 days in Irish whiskey barrels and conditioned in bottle to provide a gentle carbonation. During this time the dark chocolate flavours and well balanced bitterness of the stout combine with the essence of whiskey residing in the oak barrels. The finish is a sophisticated stout, rich and dark with the mild warmth of smooth Irish whiskey.

Spoko piwo, ale trzeba poczekać na ogrzanie, wtedy bardziej wychodzi beczka, która nie przegina, ale wnosi niezłe smaki.

750 swing top bottle. Rich roasted malt aroma with notes of dark chocolate, oak and whiskey. Pours deep brown with a large light brown head that has excellent retention and lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt and dark chocolate flavors as well as a full body and silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with nice whiskey and oak flavors with a hint of booze. Excellent BA stout.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 10/18/2016. Bottle 714/7000. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, Irish whiskey, and dark bread; with lighter notes of tobacco, leather, smoke, charcoal, raisin, plum, apple, fig, coffee, nuttiness, herbal, pepper, and roast/oaky earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, Irish whiskey, and dark bread; with lighter notes of tobacco, leather, smoke, charcoal, raisin, plum, apple, fig, coffee, nuttiness, herbal, pepper, and roast/oaky earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, Irish whiskey, dark bread, tobacco, leather, smoke, charcoal, coffee, herbal, pepper, roast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium body and light-medium carbonation; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly silky/sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.1%, with zero barrel booziness. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged Irish/export stout style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Not very rich or heavy, but was fine given the ABV. Hit the style characteristics really well. Nice barrel presence and complexity, without being boozy. A very enjoyable offering.

Piana sycząca i nietrwałą, barwa ciemno brązowa. W aromacie dość ubogo, mało intensywnie - odrobina kawy zbożowej, pieprzu z namiastką whisky i wina w tle.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond. Thanks tom. Very dark brown with a quickly dissolving bubbly tan head. A little caramel and vanilla in the nose, a little sour, a little sweet, a little vanilla and wood in the mouth. Rather light-bodied, honey finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Tom L. Black with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, butter, chocolate notes, a bit of whiskey, vanilla. Sweet and slightly sourish flavor with caramel, chocolate, buttery note, toffee, nuts, roast, a bit of whiskey, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. A bit too buttery and sourish, but still OK
