COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Pours unclear amber in color with a whitish head. Smoked yoghurt, bit of grainyness and some salty minerals in aroma. A bit on the sour side in taste with some notes of smoke and wooden earthyness as well. Might be some wheaty notes there behind the smoked bacon too. Nonetheless this one was quite tasty.

This is a very interesting beer. That’d immediately a reason to buy it. For starters, it’s a German ish style beer from Normandy. Secondly, the aroma is very gose like, smoked, salty, brown malts, cereal. Really interesting and at a very modest abv. Third, the taste is flat out sour, punchy and unique. It’s absolutely nothing like you expect a French beer to be, not even a French smoked one. Do I enjoy it? Absolutely. Sure, in taste it’s eventually not the most complex. But that doesn’t do away from my general feeling : try it! (33cl bottle from Cave à Bulles)

Bottle from La Cave d’Elodie, Becherel, Brittany, France. A hazy dark mahogany coloured beer that pours with a large creamy white head. It has a red fruit and gentle smoked beechwood flavour, spicy notes and a creamy berry and roasted finish.

courtesy of the brewers - hazy amber-brown colour; little beige foam left; a fair smokiness with some lactic notes; a good malt body and a fair carbonation; sweet and with a very low bitterness; slightly dry smokey finish with notes of bacon and corn

33cl bottle. Blend of rauchbier and wheat ale. Some sour, light body, some smoky flavours and aromas. Pours brown, hazy, with nice persistent off white head. Balanced and enjoyable.
