ClarkVV (8564) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 23, 2016Bottle shared by Chris on 7/23/16.
Clear, honey-apricot golden body is topped by an immediately-receding, white head.
There is some deep brett goodness here; lime and very light band-aid but it’s muted and lies beneath cereal grain and light cider notes. Warming shows more sweet grains and lots of cider.
Cidery, with tartness and light bacterial influences. Lots of brett tartness, green apple, lime and such. Very, very dry. The brett has completely eaten through the beer leaving an extremely attenuated, overly dry, lightly cidery beverage in its place. Still, it’s clean and with no alcohol and the malt flavors are enjoyable, though it’s a bit hard to see through the cidery character.
Was hoping this would have held up better as I so wanted to try it, but that certainly can happen with brett. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s too bad it wasn’t mashed a little warmer to create some more body and harder to ferment sugars. A less than 3 year-old saison isn’t exactly old, relative to the style. Anyways, will concede some points to what it must have been before the brett really went crazy.
nuplastikk (7640) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 5, 2016New school inoculated dry aspirin aroma. Lemony biting saison notes. Really intense flavors. Funky barnyard notes. The dry test tube tones detract from an otherwise unique and enjoyable beer.
wedgie9 (2703) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 26, 2015Tasted on 1/12/14 from a bottle. Pours clear light golden with a thick white head that slowly settles into average lace. The nose is dry spicy yeast, some bread malt, and a piney hops note with some lemon pith. The flavor is the same with plenty of tart lemon pith, very dry and spicy, with some pine resin hops. The body is light with lively carbonation, and a long, tart, dry, and spicy yeast finish.
bytemesis (12443) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JAN 28, 2015Bottle. Cage broke, which was a pain. Cork was self ejecting, which I fortunately caught in time. After all that, it was NOT a gusher though. Pours crystal clear golden orange, large white head, dissipates fairly slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is dusty, very dusty, Brett and hay. Flavor is medium tart, very dry, lemon and light funk. Light body, high carbonation.
madvike (3348) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 28, 2014Bottle - Pours lightly hazy golden with a thin white ring of head. Nose is dry, tart lemon, pale malt, and dry yeast. Taste is orange juice, coriander, light lemon tart, yeast and pale malt. Fluffy soft body.
Steve_0 (3744) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 6, 2014Bottle at home, courtesy of Lukaduke. Huge thanks for this one man!!! Pour is slightly hazy golden with a pillowy white head and great lacing. Big bretty, tropical fruity, slightly funky, doughy, sweet pears, white grapes, bright floral and lemon notes. Taste is lemon zesty, grassy, some pineapple, mango, white pepper, straw, white wine, and herbal with a highly dry finish. Medium body with champagne-like carbonation. Highly effervescent, slightly tart, and highly complex. Really tasty stuff.
MrChopin (4305) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 2, 2014[ Bottle ][ 1/3 of 75cl ][ Tasting ][ Trade ][ Tulip ][ 11.28.14 ]
Glowing translucent gold, thick white head, foamy and thin-bubbled, lasting, dense with lacing galore. Dusty cobweb nose reminiscent of drie fonteinen, light white wine/grape skin sweetness, considerable cracker. More grape sweetness at the lightly dusty front, balanced by the bright and tangy mid with tangerine, a lightly metallic and mineral finish, plenty of esters thin bodied incredibly dry, a little caramel sweetness oxidation in the finish. Less pepper than DuPont but very restrained, drinkable, refreshing, and with a uniquely dominant gueuze character..

cpetrone84 (1810) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 29, 2014Pour is pale hazy golden yellow with a good amount of tight white head that lingers briefly. Nose is extremely dusty brett, hints of leather, and a light fruity lemon note perks in behind. Taste is much less dusty brett. The dustiness first up front, faint dry leather. Fruitiness is stronger in the flavor, some nice pineapple notes, lemon, a hint sugary. Light body, well carbonated, clean finish.
hopscotch (11918) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 28, 2014Bottle... Hazy pear-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is a pairing of perfume and fruity melon rinds. Full-bodied with champagne-like carbonation. The flavor offers mild acidity and lightly toasted malts. Bright, refreshing, bready finish. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!
