SHIG (5916) - Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2018 Draft: Poured a pitch black with creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate and malt. Taste is dark baker’s chocolate light roast with silk finish.

330ml bottle. Pours almost black with a large beige head. Aroma of roast malts, dark chocolate, burnt coffee. Taste is similar, very roasty, dark malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, light sweetness and bitterness. Medium bodied, lively carbonation - too fizzy for my liking. Solid porter just too high on carbonation to really enjoy this.

Davros IX (885) - Hertford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2018
Bottle from Offie & Toffee. A great pour with a surprisingly large head that had a very pretty golden hue. The nose was all roasted malts and the same went for the taste. It was like a roasted and bitter malt explosion in the mouth and I loved it! The alcohol was forward, but it acted to balance against that strong malt. The senses were really enveloped by the taste and the mouthfeel and this was more of an experience than a beer. It was intense and I wouldn't have wanted another one, but I did enjoy this!

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2018 Aroma: Very intense coffee, cacao, dark chocolate, roasty notes. Some caramel. Raisins, liquorice and dark fruits in the background. Very good porter! Appearance: Very dark brown pour, ugly, small, beige head. Taste: Slightly sweet with bitter aftertaste, interesting. Palate: Soft carbonation, medium body, exaclty as expected. Overall: Very pleasant, traditional porter. Abundant chocolate and coffee, no shortcomings apart from slightly disappointing foam. Once again Brew By Numbers delivers an excellent beer!

Bov (14988) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - APR 19, 2018
from Bierkeller Au Trappiste - dark beer with a little foam left; grainy aroma of coffee beans; a good malt backbone, light sweet, decently bitter; aftertaste of walnuts, coffee, hazelnuts and roasted malts; dry

hauxe (1660) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - MAR 8, 2018
Pours very dark brown from the bottle. A thin, creamy head clings to the glass. Aroma is sweet cream, roasted grains, soft hints of chocolate. Taste is sweet with a thin, mineral bitterness that plays out the end. Body is medium, carbonation is above average for the style and accenuates the hard mineral water notes. Okay, but not among my top porters.

kaserov (1943) - Oviedo, SPAIN - FEB 22, 2018
Color negro con capa de espuma marrón de dos dedos de grosor y retención decente. Carbonatación suave. Textura oleosa. Postgusto quemado y a chocolate.

Tide (6209) - Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 10, 2018
