Silky black colour that floods your senses. The aromas of roasted grains underlines a strong alcoholic smell. The tastebuds are submerged in flavours, initially hot alcohol, followed by malts and finally hoppy bitterness. The combination of flavours lasts and lasts.

Sorry, but not enough going on here. Tastes include slightly bitter coffee, chocolate and an undercurrent of caramel. It’s balanced, but the tastes are thin and a bit vapid. Body is thin as well.

From cask : Opaque black color with a nice slow visual construction. Creamy sparkly light brown 3 finger island head with a nice sharp definition, lasting around 15 minutes, with average legs. Aromas and flavors of coffee, nuts, cocoa, fruits, molasses, herbal spices. Strong delicious flavors of chocolate and cappuccino with a powerful roasted nuts feel and hints of dark berries. Thick and rich taste but still well intensified earthy and oak feel. Milky creamy heavy body with no carbonation. Strong spicy finish but still enjoyable with good balance from the sweetness. Ending with a bitter smoky roasted nuts and dark berry feel. Overall a great craft with strong but delicious flavors, highly spicy but still fresh with no perception of alcohol nor a harsh dry feel, well intensified and balanced the way I like a stout.

Surely there must be a better category for this than "Imperial"? 7.5%abv seems to hardly warrant the moniker although after one sip I sense a regal burn within from the higher than average alcohol content. The aroma is pleasant but subtle, roasted grains, espresso and chocolate form and attractive scent and flavour profile. A dark berry-filled fruitcake rounds out the sensation of this black belle. There are no grandiose surprises here, just an approachable and attractive Stout.

Bottle from the brewpub. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable tan head. Clear aroma of roast, malt and fruit. Sweetish flavour of malt and fruit, with notes of roast and dark chocolate and touches of coffee and hops. Roasty and malty aftertaste. Decent.

Bottle from Sherbrooke Solid black color with a large tightly bubbled tan head that persists forever. Rich chocolate brownie batter aroma dominates. Light caramel earth and fruitiness with just a touch of smoke. The flavor is more dark and milk chocolates with hints of caramel and light stone fruit. Lingering roasted coffee long after every sip. Feels like a big sweet stout more than an imperial, but really flavorful and well made. Wish I’d brought more back from this brewery.

This one poured a crazy amount of head, cocoa colour, very creamy. Dark brown, almost blackish appearance. Good lacing. Aromas are of coffee, chocolate mocha, strong roasted malts. Mouthfeel is pretty watery, expected more thickness. Has strong flavours of chocolates and roasted coffee, dark malts, creaminess on the palate. Hops non-existant. Not bad.

HippyHop (898) - Quebec, CANADA - SEP 23, 2014
Pours purple with a finger of yellow head. Nose hits all the right notes, but nothing pops. Taste is a better representation. Chocolate, roasted grain, toffee, alcohol, treacle and a bit of coffee. Finish is surprisingly dry, with a bit of floral/pineyness, bitter coffee and alcohol warmth lingering. Solid IS, very drinkable, but lacking a bit of wow factor.

Bottle courtesy of sic1314. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is light malt, hop bitter, light floral. The flavour is medium bitter with a light roasted malt barnyard hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
