The impact of homebrewers on the American craft beer industry has been immense. The comfort level and lack of inhibitors provided by a domestic brewing environment fosters a near limitless brand of experimentation, allowing homebrewers to push te beer envelope to its breaking point. Many of the professional brewing world’s best recipes--from West Coast IPAs to imperial stouts and even sours--began as homespun standouts so spectacular they had to be unleashed on the world in order to improve it.

With this in mind, each year we hold an American Homebrewers Association sanctioned homebrewing competition, the champion of which gets their recipe brewed and distributed nationwide by Stone. This year’s winner, Chris Banker, helped keep us grounded to our homebrewing roots by introducing flavors consistent with our regional apalate. His chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, chile pepper, and coffee-infused milk stout was built to mimic the flavors of Mexican hot chocolate, a beloved specialty from our neighbors to the sout, as our collaborators from Baja California, Cervezeria Insurgente, will attest. Layered with tiers of earthiness, spice, and roast, this creamy, semisweet blue ribbon beer confirms that the spirit of the American homebrewer is not only alive and kicking but thriving at an all-time high.

Can. Very dark brown, small to average and mostly diminishing dark brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, some spiciness (cinnamon), light - some coffee, light vanilla. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish, light - some spiciness, light roastiness with light - some coffee, light vanilla, light hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, light - some spiciness, light roastiness with light - some coffee, light - some hoppyness. Sweetish IS with kind of artificial like spiciness and vanilla. For those with sweet tooth and taste for cherry cola.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2018 Canette 0,33 cl. Mousse fine beige, assez vite dissipée. Robe quasi noire. Nez : notes de café, chocolat au lait, vanille. Bouche : pointes de moka assez brèves, caramel, chocolat au lait. Final sur les épices. De la complexité, bien arrangée, j’adore.

Czarne, piana beżowa drobna, powoli opada do cienkiej warstwy, chętnie się odbudowuje. Piwo dość gęste, powoli spływa po ściankach. W aromacie kawa czarna palona, wyraźny cynamon i gałka. Nasycenia niskie.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2018 Aroma. Coffee, dark chocolate Flavor. Cocoa powder overpowers and cinnamon, vanilla is coming along creating a creamy finish. Powdery. Bit of nutmeg and cardamom. Paired with Grand Marnier milk chocolate, better with spicy dark chocolate or with cream cheese. Overall, pretty satisfied by its decent flavor. 10900KRW from Bori Taphouse bottleshop

Brewed just by stone as a comeback.Black kaki head. Mocha and hot peppers jump out upfront nutmeg then cinnamon. vannilla could be in there. Taste has a mild slick lactose, peppers cola, choco, mild coffee, caramel, toast roaste, mild medium sweet. Really good not sure if I would buy a sixer for 15 bucks of this. Not a favorite stout but pretty good. Peppers take front in flavor and aroma mostly.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2018 I think this is a good beer, but how disappointed I was that it was nowhere near a great beer. It’s very good, but hindered by the fact that it could be great if the pepper and any other flavor but cinnamon came to the game.

ElDesmadre (4446) - Mikołów, POLAND - FEB 20, 2018
Can, Berlin version, December 2017. Cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, light camomille. Has more aroma than flavour, rather light body, spicy but also nutty flavour with a spicy chili finish. Not enough body to justify such a spice onslaught.
