COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The impact of homebrewers on the American craft beer industry has been immense. The comfort level and lack of inhibitors provided by a domestic brewing environment fosters a near limitless brand of experimentation, allowing homebrewers to push te beer envelope to its breaking point. Many of the professional brewing worlds best recipes--from West Coast IPAs to imperial stouts and even sours--began as homespun standouts so spectacular they had to be unleashed on the world in order to improve it.

With this in mind, each year we hold an American Homebrewers Association sanctioned homebrewing competition, the champion of which gets their recipe brewed and distributed nationwide by Stone. This years winner, Chris Banker, helped keep us grounded to our homebrewing roots by introducing flavors consistent with our regional apalate. His chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, chile pepper, and coffee-infused milk stout was built to mimic the flavors of Mexican hot chocolate, a beloved specialty from our neighbors to the sout, as our collaborators from Baja California, Cervezeria Insurgente, will attest. Layered with tiers of earthiness, spice, and roast, this creamy, semisweet blue ribbon beer confirms that the spirit of the American homebrewer is not only alive and kicking but thriving at an all-time high.

Can. 8.1%. Best before 08.08.17. Brewed in Berlin. Pours black, with a diminishing tan head. Slight lacing. Aroma is chocolate cake with spicy notes; cinnamon. Light alcohol note in the background. Flavour is ashy and roasted, with a bitter chocolate note and a light chili burn. Spicy chocolate cake as it warms, light cinnamon. Same finish, somewhat dry. Mild alcohol burn followed by a lingering mild chili burn. Overall interesting. The aroma is good in and of itself, albeit somewhat cloying. The flavour is a bit more dubious; it felt somewhat unbalanced, and a bit too thin/watery at first, but grew on me a as it warmed. The chili burn is at a pleasant level. 22.05.17.

Can from Beer52, brewed at the Berlin branch. Explosive on opening but managed to save about two thirds of it. After mopping up the kitchen I finally had a time to note that the part that had made it into my glass was brown-black with a large tan head. It had a rich and slightly sticky mouthfeel up front with just a faint fizz. Big waft of nutmeg up front was a little heavy, but it faded on drinking to allow through cocoa, coffee liqueur, plenty of cinnamon, a light earthiness and a mild but growing chilli hit at the back of the throat. Its all really well balanced if a little sweet (but the sweetness works in this case) and theyve really got the whole Aztec chocolate thing nailed down. However - I got a little hint of absinthe and burnt rubber at times. The absinthe I wasnt sure about but I definitely didnt want the burnt rubber. They were only mild hints though and barely dented what is an excellent brew.

Aromat: cynamon, czekolada, melasa, kakao. Całkiem dobre, ostre i smaczne piwo.

My favorite product put out by stone. Soooo many good ingredients and you taste everyone. From the cocoa and cinammon to vanilla and coffee. Great on the pallet. Filling, well priced and strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. This one has a deep dark brownish colored body. On the top, a medium sized khaki colored softly lacing top. Like the spicy aroma. Nutmeg and cinnamon. Its also really vanilla sweet with hints of cardamom. Chocolate strong nose. Nice. Tastes good. Chocolate and vanilla for surely. It has a good oily texture in the mouth and its just below average on the pricing carbonation. It takes a while bUt you definitely get some prickling in the back of the throat of those chilies after a while. Really rich and deep flavors . Spicy and interesting. Have to say, I quite liked this one. 10.05.2017

(From the keg) Jet-black beer, with a small tan head. The aroma is huge! Milk chocolate, cinnamon, licorice, bread-dough, spiced sultanas and raisins, banana, muscovado sugar, bitter earth, fresh-tanned leather, mineral water, charred oak, hot clove, and singeing bourbon whiskey. The taste is fairly sweet, but leads to a bitter finish. With a light and silky mouthfeel, this is an incredible pudding-like beer. To my taste, the cinnamon could be turned down just a touch. Otherwise, this is a terrific imperial stout.
