UPDATED: FEB 16, 2021 Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 16/02/21. Had this 1.4K rates beer in a restaurant in the states in the late noughties ... took till now to catch up with it!
Moderately hazed golden orange with a well presented, lasting, just off white cap.
Nose is Belgian yeast esters, candied fruit rinds, stewed fruits, light spice, grains.
Taste comprises stewed fruits, caramel, candy peel, yeast esters, light white peppery spice, prunes, straw, grains, soft malts, light booze tunes.
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a suggestion of alcohol.
Solid exponent of the style ... one I don't normally seek out.
Good balance, a little boosty buzz and never too sweet, which is what often puts me of a Tripel. Garrold (8823) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2021

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2021 From a 355ml bottle on 1/12021 (simply labelled Allagash Tripel). Pours a slightly opaque light golden with a small head. Has a light spicy, typical Belgian yeasty aroma. Taste wise, it's very smooth and easy drinking for the size - you get sweet fruit, spice, wood, a little banana/clove and a honeyed, slightly yeasty finish. The mouthfeel is a touch slick the carbonation average. A very nice, well balanced big Belgian ale. rodsquad (1390) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - DEC 24, 2020

The taste is initially smooth, bitter - sweet, rich honeyed cereal, bready malts, touch of sponge cake, nougat, honey cake, mid palate dryness, some spice, grass, hay, fruitiness and some alcohol warmth through the finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Rounded and flavourful. A well crafted tripel. UPDATED: NOV 1, 2020 Bottle. Gold with a dense white head. Aroma of honeyed dough, passionfruit, oranges and their blossoms. Creamy texture with moderate carbonation. (Perhaps slightly too) sweet with fruit and honeyed dough before spicy bitterness and a lick of booze rein things in. Gently powerful. A really good tripel. UPDATED: OCT 25, 2020 Drank from bottle. Yeah I'd buy mango on the nose. Cinnamon maybe clove in the mouth. Fairly spicy. Drinks easier than the ABV would suggest. retinadoc (337) - - FEB 15, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2020 Bottle. Belgian ale with typical spicy aroma and flavor. Smoother than its 9.0% ABV would suggest. Still not my bag, as I prefer a citrusy, hoppy IPA.
