COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horst takes the idea of the original English Brown Ale and turns it on its head. Taking a cue from the craft beer scene in California, Horst blends U.S. west coast hops with traditional German noble hops. This blend gives our brown ale piney and earthy notes that pair perfectly with the roast, bread like flavors from the malt. After the beer was finished we added even more west coast hops to bring an explosive grapefruit, lemon, and floral bouquet to compliment the smooth, sweet chocolate aromatics. Don’t let Horst’s dark color fool you, it is light bodied, finishing smooth and dry.

33 cl bottle @ hotel room, Munich.
Pours clear amber color with a large off-white head. Quite hoppy aroma, faint coffee notes, caramel and malts, some bready tones too. Flavor is mostly caramel, some orange notes, distant licorice, subtle burnt malts. Some carbonation here but not too much which is a typical flaw of this style. Quite pleasant.

33 cl bottle @ Hotel room, Münich. BBE 09.11.2017. Aroma has fruity hops, tropical fruits and some licorice. Flavour has ash, grapefruity hops and fruit juice notes. Finishes with slight mess of coffee, hops and hints of vegetables. A brown IPA?

Bottle. Color: Reddish brown, light brown head. Taste: Smooth, light roasted malt, nice mix of medium sweet and caramel notes and hopbitterness. Hoppier than most other brown ales, and that’s a plus. Lightly notes of alcohol. Pretty much carbonation, medium body. Sticky and dry mouthfeel at finish. Something different between all those modern ipa’s and stouts. Very nice beer to enjoy at a quiet moment.

33cl bottle thanks to Bartlebier. Apperance; A Hazy orangy color, with a small off-white head. Aroma: Hops, light pine tones, grapefruit with some maltty hints. Taste: Morderate sweet, hoppy lightly pine, light grapefruitm, with a bit of caramel, bread and gentle milk chocolate hints. somewhere there befor the finish. THe finish is again a decent piney and light grapefruity hoppy bitterness just below average body, below average carbonation.

Fles. Prima bier. Donkergoud naar het rode toe. Fikse (wat bruinig) schuim. Sterk bittere smaak, blijft goed hangen. Moutsmaak. IPA achtig. Uitstekend.

Brown with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have very subtle fruity hops. Mostly it’s a malt forward beer with a light chocolate taste in the background.

Jan 2017 - "...and turns it on its head." is the right description. Hoppy front passing to a brown malt and sweet cara finish. I expected it the other way round but I like the twist
