COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Paradox Compass Box is the latest of our whisky cask aged imperial stouts to be released from its smoky, shadowy cocoon. Our huge stout was aged in Compass Box great King Street barrels for 221 days before bottling. Full bodied, crashing roasty malt flavours are tempered by a rich chocolate character, balanced with light smoke and an extra layer of orange oil complexity.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2019 Aroma: big hit of iodine, smoked peat and some sweet malt App: solid black almost dirty looking with the tan head and lacing that wants to sheet Flavour: sweet hoppy chimney! Yeah this is immaculate Palate: chewy crazy long lightly Smokey incredible finish So worthwhile carrying this back from the fabulous brewery

Turboninja (1391) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 30, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2018 [email protected], Tampere, Finland. Strong, averagely balanced nuances of sweetish dark fruits, whisky on the background, not too dominating and with clear high quality. Some vanilla, somewhat roasted malts. Wide taste spectrum and long aftertaste with roasted malts and whisky. Strong body with low/medium carbonation. Overall, very good and sturdy whisky implementation. Could have even more vivid character. 8 4 9 4 18

Piana drobna, kremowa, opada powoli. Kolor czarny. Aromat bardzo przyjemny mix gorzkiej czekolady z kakao, praliny, lekko kawa, estry. Kukułkowaty-likierowy posmak z delikatnym alkoholem, przyjemny. Smak słodki, likierowy, jest pełnia, mega gorzka czekolada, kawa, lekko popiołowe, sporo estrów, alkohol wyczuwalny w sposób wyraźny kukułkowy pasujący do całości. Bardzo Dobre choć nie warte wydanych sporych pieniędzy.

Despite its reputation and supposed experience brewing 'big' stouts this is yet another disaplointment for me. Thin for its ABV and fizzy this lacks the depth and concentrate I would expect for such a beer. Instead it comes across more like a blended scotch with coke. Smooth yes but without all those wonderful lumps and bumps I was expecting. Bah.

Piurs completely black, no head. Aroma is incredibly rich and complex, very sweet, raisins, plums, coffee and chocolate, perfect aroma. Rich whisky, smokey but not over the top. Big body, thick and smooth. Flavour is equally rich and complex, sweet, plums, intense espresso coffee, lot of peat and smoke, caramel. Finishes sweet and heavy, a tad boozy, whisky. Wow! Amazing, clearly best paradox brewdog has made.

Appearance- jet black, completely opaque, a beige foamy head which gradually settles. Aroma- dark chocolate, booze, vanilla, peaty whisky, smoke, rich coffee, leather, burnt treacle, woody earthy malt, dark rum, Christmas pudding. Smells rich. Taste- rich chocolate sauce, roast dark malt, burnt toast, treacle toffee, dark roast coffee, toffee, vanilla sweetness runs throughout, hints of marzipan, candied fruit, cherries, blended raisin, smoky peat, dessert-like sweetness. Oily mouthfeel, sticky finish. Superb.

(unsure of vintage) 330mL Tried alongside the Islay addition at "Tony's Taphouse" Flawless pitch black sump oil body with dark tan head. Aroma is immense - stacks of cocoa & chocolate - slightly oaky, smoky, dark, toasty, hint of Jaffa. Thick bodied, oily, slick, warm, lovely. Body follows on from the nose - perhaps not as intense - chocolate pudding, sweet cookies, Jaffa, Milo, good bitterness, subtle smoke on finish. Loved the Islay, but this was even better!
