2016-05-31. Lightly hazy mahogany brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of fruity estery Belgian character. Light sugar and alcohol. Flavour is relatively sweet, fruity estery character, lightly sugary and caramel notes. Very light alcohol. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate, soft to low carbonation, is adequate but feels thin for the style. Pretty simple but enjoyable. 7/3-4/7/3/15+ On tap at Galbraiths, Auckland, NZ. skortila (6536) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - MAY 25, 2014
On cask @ Galbraiths’, Auckland. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has toasty malts, bit spicyness. Clear, amber coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, has toasty caramel malts, some spicy tones, bit dust. Travlr (32130) - No fixed abode, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 22, 2013
Draft at the source. Hazy variegated amber brown color, tan edge head. Aroma of sweet burnt caramel. Taste is boozy and syrupy caramel. Spices come out as it warms.

Dark amber sweet aromas of sultana and rich raisin, strong malt profile smooth and easy to drink, sweet finish. Nice. Bif (3162) - St. Charles, Missouri, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Served a mahogany color with a small head that fades to just bits of lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, malt, spice and herbal. Taste of dark fruit, with a solid presence of malt in the background with some spice. Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Medium body, smooth with a richness that increases as it warms. Enjoyable sipper, from a brewer that tends to lean towards british style ales. Worth checking out. Jimthechap (2057) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 15, 2013
It’s a brave brewery who attempts a Belgian ale in New Zealand. So often it goes wrong or misses the mark. What impressed me was that blindfolded I would have known exactly what it was supposed to be. Appeared dark amber with a cream coloured skim of head. The persistent carbonation gave a certain sherbety character in my mouth along with plenty of Belgian style flavours: tarts, orchard fruit and allspice, dates and even a hint of musty basement. True to character and enjoyable in form. Well done. TimE (8459) - Tokyo, JAPAN - OCT 24, 2012
very rich malty character with notes of caramel milk chocolate and cherries. Rich warming. Not massive complexity but well made and enjoyable. Alcohol is a bit present AussieAl (5) - - MAY 9, 2012 does not count
This is a truly lovely beer. Even if the "Belgian" word seems scary, don’t be afraid. This is a big soft rich warming beer with fruitiness, sweetness and subtle alcohol. Like a cold northern Christmas to a Pom (me).
It’s a sipper, and it changes as it breathes and warms.
