COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously known as Liberty Station 2nd Anniversary Mocha IPA, now a distributed Stone brand.

Clearly, style lines have been crossed. Is it half-IPA, half-stout? Not quite. It’s definitely all IPA, but it’s also the best of both styles, making this love child of a beer simply just a beautiful, pleasure-seeking meld of imperial IPA and mocha indulgence. How did we come up with this inexplicably delicious creation? Well, that doesn’t really matter. What matters is that it exists and that it’s here for you now, thanks to our deliberate disregard for brewing norms. Some things are not meant to be known, just enjoyed...thoroughly.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2017 A great beer with hints of coffee, chocolate nuts, hops, citrus and honey. Although a relatively mainstream gimmicky experience, it is able to pull it off with good flavours. Plenty of sweetness balance.

[2016-11-23, Rooster, Oulu] Kuparinruskea, kirkas, luonnonvaalea vaahto. Tuoksussa greippiä ja hikeä. Maussa suklaisuutta ja kahvia.

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit, Bangkok. Poured a slightly hazy light amber with a frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is chocolate malt, woody, light resin hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a crisp, sweet chocolate, resin, woody, alcoholic hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Abundance, abstinence, and annihilation. Abundance to the poor. Abstinence to the intemperate, Annihilation to the wicked.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2017 On draught. Pours a light amber, with a smal white head. Nose is cocoa and hops. Taste follows. Very nice, well balanced ale. Blends IPA with coffee. Good stufg.

Surprisingly good for a gimmicky style that usually cancels itself out like an illegal punch in boxing. Hazy golden pour with decent head and lacing. Mocha and sharp pine come together pretty well. Tangy finish with some caramel mocha. Tap.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades very slowly to a ring leaving a good lace. Clear amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Citrus hop nose and flavor is sweet chocolate and pine hops, different. Warming, but higher ABV is hidden. $3.89 for a 12oz bottle from Bert’s Better Beers Hooksett, NH. Best by Sep 15, 2017.

Vom Fass Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-08 getrunken.

Crisp, clear amber and copper coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of very pleasant chocolate along with some biscuity malt, a small amount of hops and a lot of alcohol - more of the chocolate than anything though. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong biting chocolate bitterness at first with a nice hop backbone showing some grassy and piney hops along with a big malt flavour and more pungent malt and alcohol finish - strong throughout, but the bitterness from both the chocolate and hos is very noticeable. Aftertaste shows some light coffee and grassy flavours with some alcohol and more pungent malt than anything else. Overall, a nice (surprising, giving it’s a stone beer) IPA that shows a balance of chocolate and malt somehow, with some moderate hops, but the alcohol and body support this one well. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 31-May-2017 for US$3,75 sampled in my hotel room here in Richmond, Virginia on 19-August-2017.
