Barentsz, bears & beer

When Willem Barentsz attempted to navigate the Northeast Passage, his crew fought twin terrors: polar bears and frozen beer. Our white ale, with its refreshing fruity notes, is a tribute to the restless and rugged spirit that kept Barentsz going.

FlightLees22 (268) - Groningen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 11, 2018
UPDATED: OCT 17, 2018 Fris en kruidig bier met veel herkenbare smaken. Veel smaken van fruit en bloemen; waaronder sinaasappelschil en kamille.

On tap @ Birra. Murky yellow body with a thick, stable white head. Aroma is blue cheese, pepper and white wine. Taste is complex: orange peel, lavander, elderflower. Medium sweet finish. Medium body, lively carbonation, thin texture.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2018 Tap @ Het Elfde Gebod, Amsterdam IX 2018. Misschien niet het meest uitgesproken wit biertje maar wel lekker zacht. Alles is zacht.

Refrigerated 33 cL brown bottle, best by October 19, 2019 poured into a glass. Opaque light orange with small white head. Aroma is elderflower, medium body, medium carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is elderflower, orange, chamomile, and wheat esters.

JALumley (22) - - AUG 8, 2018
UPDATED: AUG 8, 2018 Once again I loved the artwork but the contents didn’t live up to the label flavours. A heavy yeasty taste with very subtle fruity aftertaste. Didn’t really get the flavours it promised. Not unpleasant but hoped for more.

Brokkie (498) - - AUG 4, 2018
UPDATED: AUG 4, 2018 Lekker doordrink terras biertje, botanisch gebrouwen met sinaasappel, vlierbloesem en kamille voor de fruitige en bloemige afdronk. Iets te waterig met z’n 5%.

ManVsBeer (13074) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 19, 2018
Bottle from Wine Rack, Harpenden. Hazy amber-orange with a small head and a small carbonation. Despite its eclectic list of ingredients, it does taste very much like a witbier. There is an underlying floralness to the beer evident in both aroma and taste, but its orange as well as banana area also noticeable.

fdomig (1155) - München, GERMANY - JUL 9, 2018
UPDATED: JUL 9, 2018 330ml bottle at Rest, Amsterdam. Aroma is floral, light citrus. Appearance is cloudy yellow with a small white foam. Taste is slightly bitter and quite sour. Light body, light dryness. Refreshing.
