UPDATED: DEC 28, 2020 330ml can. Pours black, really black with a small bubble dark tan head that faded in a minute. Aroma is all malt and good. Body is quite light which may be the 6% ABV and there is a balance of bitter & sweet. The tastes hangs on so you can sip it over a time and still enjoy the taste. It also opens up as it warms in the glass so maybe don't have it ice cold. Nice balanced stout.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2018 330ml can Viscous black pour with OK tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Smooth malty palate. Perhaps a tad thin body wise but still nice enough.

330ml can. Pours black with a big beige head. Nice aroma of espresso and cocoa beans. Very well balanced beer - just sweet enough and just dry enough, the way a stout should be. A great Kiwi stout.

On tap at Brew Rotorua. Pours pitch black, not much head. Coffee, chocolate, porridge, some bitter plum notes. Very nice.

[8260-20160513] Tap. Chocolate roasted grains aroma. Black cola body with a quick foamy brown head. Roasted grains and mild coffee and toasted cedar woody chocolate flavour. Full body has a comfortable sweetness. Tasty, very easy to drink. (7/3/8/4/14) 3.6

2016-05-13. Black body with a nice tan head. 3+ Aroma of tangy roast, dusty cocoa accents. 6++ Flavour is similar, fairly fruity, tangy undertones feel out of place, light roast and muted cocoa. A malt and bitter chocolate aroma with a hint of coffee. Pours a dark brown color with a lasting tan head. Medium body feel with a bitter chocolate and coffee taste with a hint of malt. The finish is like bakers chocolate.

Tap at institution, christchurch. Black color, tanned head. Aroma is sweet roasty, licorice, caramel notes. Nice roasty body, sweet caramel, coffee. Some hops.
