Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie, toasted grain), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of brown sugar, banana, clove.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic.

On tap at the Brewpub. Pours out a ruby hued brown color with a thin white head. Aroma is earthy with some notes of fruit and spice. There is an initial taste of apple with some cinamon and nutmeg. Finishes strong with alcohol. Very solid beer.

Coca Cola brown with limited beige spotting, not a looker really - just scrapes a 3!
Nose is dark malt, toffee, light booze fumes, spice, aniseed, vanilla, touch of yeast, liqourice.
Taste comprises toffee, dark fruit skins, spice, vanill essence, light booze, fruit cake.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close.

Growler pours clear amber with a tan head of foam. The mild aroma has prunes and raisins and faint spicy yeasty notes. The taste is prune-e and raisin-y and fairly bold with peppery notes with some floral in the background. At 2012 Avery Strong Ale Fest. Clear dark amber with a thin light khaki head. Malty caramel aroma with an unfortunate touch of cardboard. Taste is roasted caramel, dusty earthy malts, toast, and some dusty hoppiness. Not very good.
