UPDATED: JAN 3, 2019 Can shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear black color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with very good lacing. Moderate toasted dark malt and earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate dark bittersweet flavor with a moderate dark bittersweet finish of medium duration. This beer met my expectations.

olio (11787) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 2, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 2, 2019 473 ml can @ Pub Kultainen Apina. Canned on 01.10.2018. Pours black color with a huge beige head. Aroma is quite citric and hoppy, lots of burnt malts too, subtle resin, licorice and some grapefruit notes on the background. Flavor is also citric fruity with dry ashy malts, licorice, subtle coffee tones, chocolate and cocoa, some malt bitterness on the finish. Maybe leans slightly too much on the ashy spectrum of CDAs for me but quite nice still. 4425

16 oz. can, consumed on 3-20-18. Pours dark brown with a large amount of taupe head. Produces good, thick, extensive lacing. Looks good. Scents of dark chocolate, melon, and brown sugar. Smells of roasted malt. Roasted malt and dry hops. Tastes good. Nice, dry, bitter mix of malt and hops. Cocoa. Way more bitterness than most beers these days have, which is a big point in its favor (and accounts for an extra point in the overall score). That said, not the most complexity. Nice, bitter aftertaste, but it could stand to be stronger. Medium body. Lively and smooth in the palate. Pretty good but not outstanding palate effects. I’m a big fan of the Black IPA style. This is a good beer although not necessarily outstanding within the style. I was hoping for a little more from this highly regarded brewery. In other words, this beer is coasting on the merits of the style itself. 7.4.7.3.15=>3.6

Tap at Happy Gnome in a 10oz glass. Dark black with half finger tan head. Aroma has some chocolate roasted malts with maybe a hint of peat. Taste is reminiscent of a black IPA with enough hoppy, fruity bitterness to offset a sweetness from the malts. Lingering dark chocolate aftertaste. This one reminds me a subdued black IPA. Definitely enjoy this is a lot. I'll come very close to it again.

Can, pours a black color with a large mocha colored head and nice lacing. Nose is roasted malt, chalk, raisin bread, cocoa, coffee, and fruit. Flavor is coffee, pine, perfume, fig, toasty malt, rye, and other earthy notes. Medium bodied with hoppy finish. Really enjoying this black ipa
