Otra Vez means “another time,” and for Sierra Nevada that time is early California when beers were made from local ingredients. The brewery trialed various native produce searching for great flavors. Prickly pear cactus flourishes in the state’s arid deserts, and grapefruit fills the Central Valley’s flats. Together their fruity-tangy blend makes Otra Vez, whose tartness is true to the gose style, pop with character.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2017 Average white head on top of a pale yellow body. It smells of bananas and nuts. Apparently I am unfamiliar with this style and was caught unprepared. This beer features coriander an ingredient I do not like in beer. I taste the coriander, cactus and grapefruit but not really any beer. More of a one off than something to drink on a regular basis.

Just as you would expect for a Gose beer - lightly salty, sour, with a balanced overall profile. Sierra Nevada never seems to disappoint, and this is no exception.

Taste: Very light salty, light sweet, light sour, lime/lemon, some fruits (cactus?), light spicy.
Palate: Light fizzy. Light body. Dry finish.
Overall: Interesting, refreshing. Good.

More sour than I generally like. Would have almost called it a gose. So, not my favorite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

sjogro (4263) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - AUG 1, 2017
Bottle shared at/with Maakun’s. Clear golden with thin white head. Sour grain, sweet fruity cactus, bit peachy, lacto sickliness. Moderate sweet and bitter, quite sour and light salty. Medium body and soft carbonation.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Clear light golden with small white head. Sweet grapefruit juice, what is guess is cactus fruits, some strawberry, light dry malts, a touch of roasted corn, soap. Under medium sweet and about medium sour but in a strange and puckering way. Just medium bodied. Nice aroma but it’s strangely and annoyingly puckering.

This is the best widely available gose. The grapefruit and prickly pear are the ’sour and sweet’. Lactic. Tastes like it’s good for your tummy. Not overly salty like that beer with the bear on it. I like it most from a can. I could drink one for breakfast and one after work every day for my life and be happy.

Not for me. Had to try it -so many beers and so little time to taste them all! Never had a sour ale I like. Being from Arizona, I must say there is a hint of prickly pear cactus flavor. I do not pick up on the coriander. It is definitely sour.

vinivini (2581) - Gomel, BELARUS - JUL 28, 2017
Bottle. Foggy yellow. Tall airy head. Aroma: wheat malts, salt, fruit, coriander. Light body. Salty and spicy taste. Citrusy. Light pleasant acidity. Nice gose
