Clear deep red amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, light and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a little thin, mild creamy sweetness. Typical La Trappe Oak esters, sweet and a little floral but always contributing and never annoying. Decent sweet wood. Touch of sweet fruity whiskey. Touch of dry berries. Smooth and fairly dry finish. Smooth fruity whiskey linger. As always with these La Trappe Oak Aged, nuanced and layered.
Bottled from HetBierMoment. Dark mahogany colored, small head. Beautiful complex nose, alcohol, raisins, malts, vanilla, whisky. Same in flavor, alcohol more apparent. Lasting alcoholic finish. A little bit boozy, but apart from that: brilliant brew. rayoflight (35) - - APR 21, 2018
Fles, mooi donker kleurig bier met dunne schuimkraag. Heel verfijnd met een mooie balans. Rijpe banaan, helaas ook wat kurk smaak. Zoet en een vleug van vijg. Prachtig gemaakt. Mijn eerste la trappe batch.

Bottle. Boozy whiskey, prune, caramel malt and hay aroma. Dark amber with moderate, short lasting head. Moderately sweet whiskey, prune, caramel malt, and moderately bitter wood, alcohol, and hay flavor. Nice body and balance. A bit boozy but overall nice.

Dark brown, creamy tanned head. Smell of dark fruits, raisin, dades, oak, sherry, toast, whisky vanilla, alot of complexity. Heavy sweet, candise sugar, dark fruits, dried fruits, alot of caramel, honey, vanilla, oak , toast and whisky. Maybe a bit too sweet for my likings, but it got nice intense flavors; all in all a very good beer.
Bottle shared at home, courtesy of Maakun, thanks! Slightly unclear brownish amber with light greyish head. Sweet caramel malts, barley, caramel, dried apple, vanilla fudge, notes of whisky, nuttiness, old dust, cream butter, light metallic and medicinal. Big sweet and moderate bitter. Over medium body and soft carbonation. Maakun (10313) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - SEP 1, 2017
Bottle shared. Clear mahogany with beige head. Marzipan, sherry, raisins, lots of brown sugar, dried apple, vanilla, light flowers. Over medium sweet and under medium bitter. Almost full bodied with soft carbonation. klm1 (2686) - Bled/SF, - AUG 18, 2017
Pours deep amber, slightly hazy with foamy off-white/ beige head. Aroma: malts with notes of honey, toffee, toasted bread, candy sugar, banana like esters, woody tannins, vanillin, gentle whiskey note. Flavor follows aroma with notes all mentioned by aroma. There’s also gentle grassy hop note, also noticeable by basic version. Finish is dry, slightly astringent and with noticeable whiskey - at the moment port wine like - alcohol note. Body is medium to full, texture smooth, carbonation is medium to high.
