COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

anstei (3783) - SWITZERLAND - SEP 18, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2019 2016 vs 2013 bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Pours dark brown with a lively head. Aroma is dried prunes, dark fruit, fig, hints of booze. Body is heavy, but not too dense or oily, rather drinkable texture actually. Rich and intense, hints of booze, far from overdone though. Fruity, in a dark Belgian way. The 2013 already has a much weaker body and is oxidized. Very good!

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2019 I have found this beer, in the biervana shop, in Munich. Trying and enjoying a lot, this bottle, at home, in Epalinges. The color is black and deeply troubled, average carbonation, a bit high, white and brown foam. In the mouth, it is simply a bomb, an explosion of aromas, a bit similar with the rochefort 10, a solid beer, developping a lot of aromas of red wine in barrel, astonishing and well made aroma of vanilla, plum, cherry, sweetness so pleasant in the mouth, perfect dosis of hop, malt, a beer to savour quietly, contemplate the stars in the sky.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2019 Mörkt brunsvart, lite dimmig. Svag doft av syrlig, lätt bränd kola. Smak av fikon, dadlar o mörk chokladkola. Lätt beska tar över på slutet. Mycket gott!

Dark brown, mahogny in apperance. Very thin head, goes away quickly. Amazing aroma, dried fruit dominated by figs. Taste gives more of the same, figs plums, cherries and a slight touch of coffee. A bit more yeasty than the typical dark strong ale, which is to the better in my opinion. Very, very good!

midovark (2428) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUN 7, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2019 2017 vintage version, cellared for over 6 months. Jet black pour, thin head. Nose is sweet malts, dark chocolate, some vanilla-like bourbon notes, sweet booze. Taste is less complex altogether, it’s sweet malty and boozy and unfortunately there’s a definite sign of oxidization too. Medium bodied with soft to normal carbonation. Expected real fireworks here, but I feel let down a bit.

tightslice (2100) - Redwood City, California, USA - MAY 29, 2019
UPDATED: MAY 29, 2019 2016 Vintage bottle from Whole Foods in San Jose, CA. Aroma (changes) from cherries, licorice, bright dark chocolate, plums / prunes. Taste is sour cherries, maybe herbal liqueur (but less intense), dry oaky red wine. Not sure what other vintages taste like but this one had lots of red wine complexities. Old, dusty and saint-like.

HopsLove6 (90) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2019
UPDATED: APR 7, 2019 Vintage 2017. Head dissipates quickly. Strong alcohol aroma and taste, intense flavours fruity chocolate and malty. Very nice and a re purchase sits well amongst it's famous geographical neighbors.
