In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

paulvb (194) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 2, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2020 Very dark brown ale, oily, thin head. Aromas of dark chocolate, caramel, red fruits and liquorice. Roasted notes. Heavy. The taste has similar flavours. The dark chocolate is more pronounced. Mild, roasted caramel sweetness. Some earthy, ashy notes as well. Mildly hoppy. Quite complex, but very well balanced. Great dark ale.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2020 330ml bottle at Cafe Gollem, Amsterdam on 13/12/2009. One of my favourites; the whole selection of Pannepots. This one is no exception. Supremely complex and incredibly moreish.

AndrewC (391) - Canterbury, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2020 A 10 year old bottle brewed at Decca. The beer was smooth, venous, coffee grounds, elder berries. It smells like Christmas. Warming on the finish. The last gulp, some 90 minutes after opening was like a smooth chocolate liqueur.

Bush_Docta (1069) - - APR 10, 2020

lasage (376) - DENMARK - DEC 13, 2019
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2019 2013. Sort, ikke meget skum. Mørk rund fyldig duft. Smager meget mild, lidt lakrids/kaffe dæmpet, fyldig, skjuler de 10 % meget godt. Lækker øl

bertovapes (516) - Chorzow, POLAND - OCT 15, 2019

anstei (3808) - SWITZERLAND - SEP 18, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2019 2016 vs 2013 bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Pours dark brown with a lively head. Aroma is dried prunes, dark fruit, fig, hints of booze. Body is heavy, but not too dense or oily, rather drinkable texture actually. Rich and intense, hints of booze, far from overdone though. Fruity, in a dark Belgian way. The 2013 already has a much weaker body and is oxidized. Very good!

FrothyTickers24 (719) - BELGIUM - SEP 7, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2019 Zwart bier met beperkte Mokka schuimkraag. Koffie, gezoete aanzet met licht zurige afdronk.
